Elgato hd60 recording gamecube

I'm using an elgato hd60 to record gamecube games(via rca to hdmi adapter) and it works fine for like 5 minutes before it starts screen tearing ridiculously, and there's never any temporary stop to the screen tear. It just becomes a ridiculous blur. I was wondering what could be causing this. (Running capture card straight through obs)

well, either the adapter, or the capture card - doubt it's the console or obs that's acting up.

to make sure it's not the capture card - see if all cables are properly in, reinstall drivers, check if it actually gets enough power supplied to it, etc. if it doesn't stop then, it's either defective or the adapter is at fault.

Thanks man, I'll give it a try once I get home from work

It appears as though the problem is just with obs, it works fine in the elgato game capture program

Try XSplit and see if it works there. The Elgato software is terrible, so hopefully XSplit won’t have it happen (although I’m curious as to why OBS is behaving like that. I’ve never heard of it doing that before).
