Clear rules for Individual Levels.

I am going to put the rules for IL's here as clearly as possible. Please ask any questions you have in this thread.

The in game timer is used for IL's.

Levels without a time shown on a results screen will be timed via RTA.

RTA method Mentioned above starts when you are first able to move your character, and ends on the first frame of the screen melting.

UV DIFFICULTY OR HIGHER REQUIRES THE PLAYER TO SHOW LEVEL SELECTION AND START WITH THE DIFFICULTY MENU.

YOU MUST HAVE A FRESH SPAWN ON THE LEVEL YOU ARE SUBMITING FOR.

CAN'S: You CAN save on a level, then die on the same level, and start it from the beginning (NOT ON UV OR HIGHER).

You CAN save on a previous level, enter the level, and die, to spawn from the beginning (NOT ON UV OR HIGHER).

You CAN have a save set to load an automatic death (load, die instantly), to help save time reseting (NOT ON UV OR HIGHER).

CANNOT'S:

You CANNOT load inside a level (even at the spawn) and submit a run UNLESS you die, and have a fresh spawn from the start.

You CANNOT have a submission that cuts off the IGT being displayed at the end of the level.

You CANNOT submit a run that enters from a previous level, UNLESS you die in the level you are submitting for, to have a fresh spawn (NOT ON UV OR HIGHER).

Correct methods of submitting time:

9.33 on the In Game timer would be submitted as 9 s 330 ms.

24.91 on the In Game timer would be submitted as 24 s 910 ms.

1:35.335 RTA Retime from first frame of movement to first frame of screen melting would be 1 m 35s 330 ms

Wrong methods for submissions.

9.33 being submitted as 9 s 033 ms

24.91 being submitted as 24 s 091 ms

1:35.335 RTA being submitted as 1 m 35 s 335 ms

Question about UV Max and UV+ Max runs on maps where 100% is impossible or requires overkill:

TNT map 15 has some monsters that can only be killed by positioning a lost soul above them and using splash damage from rockets: is 100% kills mandatory for this map in max runs?

TNT map 23: on UV+ (single player) it is impossible to get 100% kills because certain rooms containing monsters only open if multiple players spawn in the map, will max runs with less than 100% kills be accepted in this case?

California, USA

I have a mixed opinion about TNT 15, I personally want to require it since it’s possible to do, but at the same time that’s an awful method, though would make the run more interesting. I’ll get back to you on this one.

For map 23, if it legit is NOT possible to get 100% kills, then get whatever the percentage is without killing the impossible-to-reach monsters.

After deliberations/learning more about the situation, map 15 of TNT WILL NOT require 100% kills. Kill all monsters except those bs ones needing a lost soul. Thank you for bringing this to our attention :D

Well, regardless of not having vertical camera movement, you can still defeat enemies that are higher and lower than your current y position. All the ammo you use homes in on the enemies.

@Tailss55 We know that, that isn't the point though. The point is, the enemies CAN'T be shot, unless a Lost Soul is used to get the rocket to go upward and hit them with splash damage. They aren't in a position where Auto-aim can take over.

Another map where it looks like it is impossible to get 100% kills is TNT map 31. Looks like they used a WAD version that fixes the multiplayer-only yellow key but not the shotgunner that gets stuck in the last room; this prevents all the other gunners from teleporting in.

@similaun That one we knew about it was ruled some years ago to not be required so all good there. If you find any others, please make a separate thread as this thread is outdated and some of the rules Alexo listed off are no longer valid. (UV start requirements)

For future runners, please join our discord OR see the current games rules for a more updated rule set.
