I noticed on SMB3 and SMB3 category extensions that there is no categories for SMB3 All Stars. Why isn’t the All Stars version on the leaderboards?

We do. I mean it’s not like the All Stars version is slower or has limitations. It’s basically the same as the original game

which is why it doesn't need a separate category. it's close enough to being the same game and has no major differences. you can submit times on the leaderboards as SNES.

It's not the same. All stars loses massive amounts of time with the fade ins by itself. You can't buffer across bros on map transitions. 4-4 is different design wise. All-stars should honestly be a sub category imo.

it will probably require first to have actual interest in a good number of people running by its own the category for it to get added, and maybe would fit more to be its own category in the category extensions

The main idea behind the unified LB is that almost every strat is the same in every version (ignoring PAL), the routes are also pretty much identical, and all the physics/core mechanics are the same. Meaning that the time difference is mostly from loading times. Having an entirely separate category/LB just because of loading times seems really overkill to us. Using filters is usually more adequate for cases like this (like for LBs with multiple language versions).
