Q: I want to run on emulator, how do I get everything?

A:

Q: What should I do if I want to run this game?

A: Here are the first things you should do: - Play through the game casually so you know the basics of a Pokemon game. - Join the Pokemon Speedrunning Discord here: http://forums.pokemonspeedruns.com/viewtopic.php?t=492 - Watch the WR video to learn more about the speedrun, the lastest WR can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnyellow - Get the Beginner guide here: https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnyellow/guides - Decide what category you want to run (Glitchless or Classic) - Start learning the game and have fun!

Q: What is the difference between Glitchless and Classic?

A: Classic is Glitchless with two major changes: 1) No RNG manipulation. 2) No Pokedoll skip (Using the pokedoll on the ghost in Pokemon Tower)

Q: Why did the WR video save and reset/What is RNG manipulation?

A: You can manipulate RNG in pokemon yellow, which is all done by hard reseting the console (Saving and resting). With that you can get the perfect nidoran or get no random encounters in mount moon.

Q: RNG manipulation seems daunting, should I learn it right away?

A: No actually! Only one simple RNG manipulation is needed to run this category, male nidoran encounter manip. Getting the nidoran in one ball toss is NOT needed and is much harder than just getting the encounter. I would recommend learning nidoran manip (you can try the yoloball but don't overdo it. If you miss it just try to catch it normally with your spare pokeballs), and ignoring all other manips until you know the route more. There is another category with no RNG manipulation which is great for new runners: https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnyellow#Any_Glitchless_Classic

Q: When should I reset my runs?

A: The simple answer is try not to reset. Set a PB then if you even have a small chance of beating that time finish it out the run :D

Q: Any tips for improving my time?

A: Races are a great way to improve. You are actively playing with other runners, working on the entire run. The discord is a great place to find other runners to race.

Q: Why do you do X in the run?

A: You can ask any questions about the route in the discord. We keep the guides simple for new runners, but there is a lot that goes into routing.

Q: What should I practice the most?

A: The late game is important to practice. Many new runners get the early down by doing runs but struggle on good runs in the late game.

Q: Are there practice saves?

A: Yes! https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnyellow/resources

Q: Should I be saving?

A: Yes! When starting out saving is a great idea. Here is a list of good saving points in the run: - Before the Light Year trainer in Brock's Gym - Before Misty - Before Surge - Before Silph Rival Fight - Before Koga - Before Blaine - Before Giovanni Gym Fight - Before Each E4 Fight - Before Champ Fight

Q: Can I use pokemon centers the WR rarely does?

A: The best fast heal is Mom heal after Koga. If you are low after Koga, talk to your mom when you fly to Pallet town. But after you heal at celedon city, you can basically heal there whenever you dig out of a building. For example you can heal after you dig out of silph tower, but never heal in viridian city unless you're out of healing items.

Q: What is the hidden nugget/how do I get extra safety in the run?

A: There is a hidden Nugget here: https://www.extratricky.com/pokeworld/rb/121#12,2 Sell that in celledon city so you have extra healing items.
