can we all just say to the point that its up to the games community to decide, and that if you are not currently a part of the community then you shouldn't waste your time trying to change something that the vast majority decided on? if you don't like a strategy or glitch used in an "any%" run, then do something different, if you don't like using glitches, play it normally. but keep it to YOURSELF. not just to you huxxny, but to everyone, this is a feedback thread for the speedrun.com SITE, not a complaint thread about speedruns in general.

Hey guys, great work with the site.

I have a minor addition I would like to see. I would like if it were possible to customize the number of digits displayed for different categories. The IGT for all three Metroid Prime games is only in hours and minutes, meaning that every single run for all three of those games has ":00" at the end. I guess it's not really a huge deal but it's annoying to look at. The WR is 0:54, not 54:00.

For anyone else reading, this is not an invitation to argue about reasons communities have for using various timing methods.

More modular timer configuration is something we've wanted to add for a while, it just hasn't happened yet.

Okay. Thanks.

hi, i just want to adresse something that has no importance what so ever, but i feel the need to correct something... i used the word LIGIT in capital letters while it should have been GLITCHLESS... if i had express myself correctly i probably wouldn't have bother anyone with my opinion... and what i meant was simply that even tho i perform glitches and oob myself, i just happen to also enjoy whatching and performing games without them, and, well, maybe i'm not the only one... i didn't meant to offend anyone nor start a war simply because i believe that noobs should be encourage, since the more people join the community, the more strats we'll find... anyway guys, this is not the place to debate this topic, and therefore, i will only take part on forums when i feel its absolutly necessary and welcomed,... now, tx for your patience and understanding!! ;D

Variables have disappeared from all runs on http://www.speedrun.com/ctr . Is this even fixable on the admin end?

Any idea what caused them to disappear?

Poland

No idea, a couple days ago I've modified the variables in a couple categories, and then edited a couple runs for that back then (everything was filled just fine). Everything seems to have disappeared today. There's also been a run submission not submitted by the runner landing in the verification queue (submitter unknown).

Is someone using some kind of exploit?

United States

Happened here as well, probably a site glitch.

Suggestion: Would it be possible to have an option to view the WR history for a category based on the obsolete runs for that category and their dates?

 1. If I set any variable for a specific category, it will show the variable name for ALL categories, but not any selected options.

Here's an example: http://www.speedrun.com/Need_for_Speed_III_Hot_Pursuit/Hometown#PC

It clearly shows "Mode" (for ALL categories even though it's specified as PC category only), but no selected option. I've tried to delete the variable, submit the run again, but the only thing that works is to switch the variable to all categories.

 1. Is youtube embedding limited to just 5 links? Whenever I put more, it just displays them as links, not videos.

 2. If your game use both real time and in-game time and you submit a run, the "Add run" page actually shows "Time" and "In-game time". It should be "Real time", otherwise it's a bit confusing.

The variables issue confused me for a while, but as it turns out the variables weren't removed, a bug was just causing them to not show up. Should be fixed now.
Suggestion: Would it be possible to have an option to view the WR history for a category based on the obsolete runs for that category and their dates?
Yeah, statistics like that are nice additions, I'd like to get to them after the following update but there might be some other things that need to get priority.
1) If I set any variable for a specific category, it will show the variable name for ALL categories, but not any selected options.
Same variables issue as at the top.
2) Is youtube embedding limited to just 5 links? Whenever I put more, it just displays them as links, not videos.
Yes, all embedding is currently limited to 5 links. This is mostly useful for twitch embeds because they're really heavy and having multiple makes the page incredibly slow. It's not as relevant for youtube embeds, so it's probably reasonable to allow more (but not unlimited) of those.
3) If your game use both real time and in-game time and you submit a run, the "Add run" page actually shows "Time" and "In-game time". It should be "Real time", otherwise it's a bit confusing.
Good catch, I'll change that soon.

Thanks, but it's still not fixed :)

Now it shows "Mode" four times even though I set specific category for each mode. Maybe the system doesn't like duplicate variable names?

It turned out to be a separate bug caused by some recent changes, SgtKabukiman fixed it.

Bringing this one back because I've noticed there's been a few marathons being added recently: http://www.speedrun.com/post/lo4af

Is there any way to manually reorder games in a series (for when two games are released in one year)?

Marathon forums ideally should only be manually populated by staff onto the main forums page. Currently the creation and population are tied together.

Games need an optional month and day field. There is not a good way to handle it currently. I think it was said at one point that the order on the page of the tied values is the order in the database.

United Kingdom

In addition to being able to set order within a year, are there any plans for full custom ordering or being able to visually split a series into multiple parts? For an ordering example, in Final Fantasy, FF4 Interlude makes more sense between FF4 and FF5, instead of being between FF13 and FF13-2. As for splitting series, it would make it a lot easier to find games in the Mario series if you could split up the original platformers, the GBA/DS remakes, the 3D platformers, and the New SMB series. While they all still belong to Mario, there are a lot of games on that page, and using box art works, but can still take a lot of time to find the specific game you want.

We had discussed making series and games not a 1:1 requirement. This is complex at the moment with the way moderators are set up to inherit, among other reasons. Revamping series probably will not happen in the short term.

Reordering games within a series is a much simpler request. There are a few other items that need reordering added, so maybe that can all be taken care of at once.
