Im not sure why my friend decided to post this but sure

Background: My friend I sent this to to proofread decided to post this, but forgot to credit me and just looked stupid

(this is a school project so its really cringe)

Ok so I guess I’m writing a story in first person now, with changing perspectives. The protagonist (the exposer)’s name is John (first name I could come up with), and the antagonist (the cheater)’s name is Nathan (the second name I could come up with). The game that they are speedrunning is “craftmine”. So, let’s get into it.

NATHAN Well, I just put my master plan into action. “All frames were checked for cheating, but none turned up.” Looks like speedrun, com is not infallible. HA! Time to become famous.

JOHN Wow! It says here that the craftmine speedrun world record was brought down to sub-10 minutes, even though the last one was 15+ minutes! Well, that guy will become famous now.

NARRATOR And of course, Nathan did become famous. With over 20 million views on the first day, and a 99% like ratio, it seemed no one thought he was cheating.

6 MONTHS PASS

NARRATOR After intensive frame-by-frame analysis of the whole speedrun, no one could find anything against Nathan’s insane time, and all allegations of cheating were dropped.

JOHN Hold on… on frame 56 of 5:43, I can see the almost-faded command to turn to creative! And at frame 49 of 6:02, there’s a bare trace of what looks like an item spawner on the upper boundary of his FOV. And there’s more, and more, and more. Plus, this Nathan guy seems kinda dodgy when he was questioned about how he did it. Some of his answers don’t really match up with his run. I have to speak up about this…

NATHAN Well Well Well, it seems that at least one person is smart enough to see tiny traces of my cheating. It doesn’t matter. My army of rabid fans will take care of him.

NARRATOR John uploads his exposing video, and then proceeds to become the most disliked video on TubeYou. The hate against him from Nathan’s fans gets worse and worse until John has to take a break from the internet due to all the hate coming in.

JOHN WHY DOES NO ONE UNDERSTAND?? All of Nathan’s Stans have been attacking me day and night, and out of all this no one knows the truth. Welp, I tried, and I hope that in a few years people will finally get it. In the meantime, I’m going to take a break from this toxic platform.

2 YEARS PASS

NARRATOR In the 2 years that John spent away from TubeYou, many things changed. Some big influencers started investigating the Nathan speedrun after John uncovered evidence in the run, and came up with some pretty big stuff. (Since craftmine is nothing like Minecraft, and I’m too lazy to make up game mechanics, let’s just assume this part is talking about game mechanics).

JOHN I think it’s time that I log back into my TubeYou account. Let’s see… WHAT? My expose video’s like ratio is now like 70%? And why is Nathan’s speedrun now approaching the 80s in dislike ratio? I have to get to the bottom of this. searches “Nathan speedrun scandal” Whoa, why are all the big speedrunners now all against Nathan? It seems like my video DID age well, unlike what I expected.

(Rewind 0.5 years)

NATHAN WHAT? How did they find out? How did my Stans fail me? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

JOHN And that, kids, is why you SHOULDN’T cheat on speedruns. It garners hate for anyone brave enough to try to expose, and it’s just dumb. It makes people think that you are too self-confident in your hiding skills, and are underestimating the internet in its exposing skills.

I pray this is a middle-school assignment. I reads like something my 7th grader would write out to his friends as a joke and then show to me expecting approval and then I have to put on a smile and suppress my inner uncomfortability and grandpadom..

Meh, it doesn't really matter the grade level, I'll just grade this a solid "C" for "Cringe".

Hey, everyone starts somewhere. Though I would certainly revise this with loads more "show, not tell" (letting readers infer character beliefs from their actions, so characters don't have to tell readers why they're doing things).
