Hello I am totally new to this site / speedrunning. I only speedrun Resident Evil 2 Remake. Well, I am still practicing but I think I would like to upload a run some day.

Could someone guide me through all steps, what should be done?

I have LiveSplit installed, and downloaded splits that were available from speedrun.com (downloaded through livesplit).

Does it make any difference which capturing software I'm using?

Also, I have only one monitor. I tried to keep LiveSplit on top by playing in borderless window, but it often just destroys my run as I accidentally put my mouse over LiveSplit and click on it instead in the game...

Any advices?

Thanks for responses.

For capturing software, I personally recommend Open Broadcaster Software Studio (OBS Studio). There are others, such as Xsplit, but OBS is the most widely used as far as I know.

Ideally for streaming strictly on your PC, having two monitors will make things IMMENSELY easier on yourself. In lieu of that, for the sake of space, I would recommend having less splits for the time being so that it mitigates your chances of accidentally clicking on it. Unfortunately this means you'll have bigger gaps in splits and when you come back and look at your splits some days later, you may have trouble remembering where exactly you lost time as a result.

Alternatively, you can activate horizontal mode so that the splits are just taking up space on the top or the bottom of the screen. It's not my favorite aesthetically, but maybe this could work for you.

Thank you for the response. The horizontal layout works fine for me atm. I will begin my search for 2nd monitor soon though ;-)

And after I've captured my run - what do I have to do in details to submit it to speedrun.com?

Click on “Submit Run” on the game and fill out the form accordingly. It’s pretty straightforward. Just a note that this site doesn’t host videos, your video needs to exist on a website to be viewed (preferably Twitch or YouTube).
