Random jitters could indicate a spliced run. Can you link the video?

Just type in The fast and the furious. It's just the one arcade game and the jitters are from pressing f3 to pause and unpause the game. Would that be considered cheating? F3 to pause and unpause the game isnt something that's doable with the arcade game.

to the curious https://www.speedrun.com/Fast_and_Furious_Arcade/run/y2326v9m Yeah if the glitches and stuff can't be done on the original hardware I don't think they should be allowed tbh. But you will have to prove it can't be done on original and stuff because u need proof its cheated kind of thing :( hmm idk that's just my view someone else may think differently :)

Using F3 as an emulator command to pause and unpause the game, makes the run a TAS.

Looks like it's some basic self-contained software to play the FnF rom, but it doesn't work accurately. Some of the functions of the game appear to be as such: the arcade game has some functions that allow it to change view (presumably left, right, and back) while you are driving. In this particular running of the game, which appears to be cobbled together by hobbyists who work on getting arcade roms, this function doesn't work correctly. When the input is pushed, it freezes the game, and when you push it again, the game unfreezes and glitches out.

Basically the result of inaccurate emulation.

so what would the speedrun fall under then? I'm somewhat familiar with TAS and emulator runs but im not sure where this falls. Also I have switched views many times during gameplay and have not had this freeze the game ever. Ill go back and spam the view change tho to be certain.

Oh interesting- so the run in question was submitted and self-verified by the game's only moderator. I thought maybe you were the mod asking about a recent submission.

If the run includes inputs that don't exist on the original arcade, it's not necessarily cheating, but I generally reject runs that use emulators to gain an advantage. Because this one is done by the game's mod (and is the only submission so far), maybe it's better to make a different title or a different category for emulator runs than ones done on the actual arcade. Have you gotten a response from the game's mod yet?

I'd probably just try to contact a full mod or admin on the discord, honestly, and let them know the situation.
