Hey, I've recently started attempting All Medals blindfolded runs (I'm planning on submitting the category to SGDQ). I play on Wii U, and in order to skip the Rhythm Test and credits sequences, I have to use the Wii home menu, which is difficult to navigate blindfolded thanks to the motion controls. Runners on a regular Wii would have a massive advantage since they can just use the Reset button (I don't have a functioning Wii atm), which would be much easier to figure out when you can't see.
The rules currently state that the blindfold cannot be taken off until the run is complete, so my question is: could an exception be granted for having to use the Home Menu to reset the game, or do runners just have to suck it up and get good at figuring it out on their own? I'm fine with either, but I feel like allowing Wii U runners to temporarily remove their blindfold so they don't have to waste minutes figuring out where all the buttons on the Home Menu are would level the playing field a bit compared to people who play on Wii. Of course, it's the community's decision, not mine, so let me know what you think!
Hey SuperViperT302,
You're correct that the current rules state the blindfold cannot be removed once the run begins until it is completed. There are already several verified runs where runners navigate the pause menus while blindfolded. To maintain consistency and fairness for all participants, we’ll be keeping the rules as they are for now.
We appreciate your dedication to the category, and we encourage you to keep pushing the boundaries of blindfolded runs!
That's perfectly fine, just wanted to ask! I managed to get the game working on my Wii so now I can use the reset button and not have to worry about that! Thanks for replying!
