So just started trying the trainer id manip on DSi XL, it does work. I was wondering, is the frame difference on the soft reset or the a press? I tried over 30 times and got a lot of +2 and -2 frames. If this is frame perfect, does anyone get really consistent at it? Also I am playing on the french version, does it make a difference at all?

Looking at this ID table for reference: https://imgur.com/UjkNMQH 17998 is the ID that you are looking for, one frame early is 48101, and one frame late is 15529. That is when how the A press affects the RNG. It is pretty difficult to get the correct frame and a lot of the times you will be one frame late or early, its kind of luck. If you soft reset one second late, you will get all the ID's to the right. (35966) I don't know if the french version affects this, but I hope my explanation on the RNG is helpful.

Thanks for explaining, I managed to hit the right id multiple times now. French doesn't change anything except text is usually longer (ember vs flammèche).
