I saw that the only platform you can submit runs from is PS4, and I was wondering if PS5 would be added. Also, is playing on PS5 banned?

Due to the shortage of available PS5 console we haven't really had any chance to do any excessive testing for the game on PS5. It was suggested earlier during the PS5 release to hold off on adding PS5 runs to the board for now until we have concrete information on potential differences, loads, behavior, etc. and people generally weren't against that idea so we've held off adding PS5 for now. Unfortunately the consoles are still quite difficult to come by for most people so nothing has changed so far.

Some videos of the game would certainly help, but it would be a big ask. Ideally footage would be needed of the entire game (as in from a speedrun perspective) so it can be analyzed. As well as many repeated attempts at doing specific loads to see if they're consistently faster than PS4, and such.

Though tests also don't really solve the issue that the PS5 is just largely near impossible to find still in certain countries unless you get incredibly lucky. Where I am it's not really estimated for the shortage to end until 2022 at the earliest. Personally, I am entirely for just keeping PS5 off until it's at least feasibly possible to purchase one outside of camping stores 24/7 and hoping you can beat the bots.

From what I can tell, the only change is that load times on the PS5 are significantly faster. You almost never get the “take your time” message during loading, and each screen seems to be about 3-4 seconds faster.

The PS5 is very similar to the PS4, so I highly doubt there’s any gameplay changes. If the PS5 were added, runs would be at least 20 minutes ahead just because of the faster loading screens. It’s enough to warrant its own category, but games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe combine the two different versions (digital edition is around 30 seconds faster than cartridge), so it’s up to the mods if it’s added.
