Question about saving time

I just had a perfect stage 2 (took right on the first fork, new/overseas layout). By perfect I mean my speed didn't drop from 293 km/h from the beginning until the end of the stage. Still, I had a 55:21 time, which is one whole second more compared to the current WR (no Gear Gacha).

Am I missing something? Does cutting corners really save time? I mean it's 2D scrolling levels after all

Speaking off WR, the thing that he pulls off at the very start of his D route run is that "fast acceleration" trick, right?

I don't really know how these people got those crazy times. It's a shame that it's impossible to find any other gachaless runs for comparison.

Although it's a 2D game, cutting corners must somehow still do something? Otherwise even here the stage 2 time would be exactly the same.

You can see the inputs for fast acceleration here

Interesting, I have to admit that comparing it to gear gacha runs didn't cross my mind.

Any tips on the Fast acceleration start trick? I can't get it down.. "When the green light turns on, go full throttle and switch to low at the same time, then quickly switch back to high" How quick exatcly am I supposed to switch back to high?

Edit: I've watched the JPN tips video again. It seems like he's going full throttle at the very start, on next frame switches to low, keeps it there for 7 frames and then switches back to high

Hey, there's a forum. I had no idea. Fast acceleration just needs a lot of practice to get right and I miss it more than I get it. It's all just a matter of timing. As per your question, you switch back to high immediately. Tap tap. If you get it, you'll see your RPMs spike and then immediately drop. The best way to know you got it is that you'll be hitting 200 km/h as you hit the first round of bleachers after the first line of palm trees end. Check that run that takojaki posted. If you're hitting 175, you got what I call a half-assed boost start. Quit and try again. It's always 200 right there if you got it right.

As for the Devil's Canyon 54, a 55 is what you should get if you do everything perfectly, but don't nail that last blind to the left before the rocky corridor. If you turn perfectly going in there and never drop speed, you can barely squeak a 54 out of it.

If you have any YouTube/Twitch footage of your runs with the issue, just let me know and I'll help you any way I can.
