Hi, so now that Simoteus' run has been accepted to the leaderboards, I think we need to talk about the categories for Nioh. At this moment we have runs on the Any% leaderboards which were ran on different timing methods (RTA vs. RTA no Load) and which have the ending for their Any% run after different missions (finishing after credits vs. finishing after the last main mission of the base game, which is one mission later). I would suggest the following changes:

-For every category create sub-categories (maybe like here on the cuphead page https://www.speedrun.com/cuphead), where runs in each category are seperated by PS4 and PC. --On PS4 there's no way around using RTA timing, as the ingame time showed on the load screen still accounts for loading screens and doesn't display seconds. --On PC there is a load remover available for LiveSplits. All times on the PC leaderboards should be thus RTA no Load. The timing method to use should be reflected in the rules tab.

-Create the following categories: -- Any%, which finishes after reaching the Credits, i.e. after finishing "A Demon King Revealed". -- All Main Missions w/o DLC, which finishes after beating every Main Mission of the regions 1-6, i.e. after finishing "A Queen's Eyes". -- All Main Missions with DLC, which finishes after beating every Main Mission of the regions 1-9, i.e. after finishing "The Last Samurai".

Some people run All Main Missions with DLC and I plan to do it, but there's no category to submit the runs to.

Now, why do we want "Any%" AND "All Main Missions w/o DLC" if they're only one mission apart? First, every single run on the Any% leaderboards BUT Simoteus' run has been an "All Main Missions w/o DLC" run so far. Almost every runner who doesn't submit runs to speedrun.com is doing this category. It is the most competitive category (and maybe people will start submitting if the rules are crystal clear about what each category entails).

For people who only want to finish till they reach the credits, like Simoteus' does, we then have the Any% category.

Secondly, if there's ever a credits warp glitch or a way to skip Main Missions found, Any% would obviously allow these, while "All Main Missions w/o DLC" would require you to actually beat every Main Mission of the regions 1-6.

Lastly, you could also run "All Main Missions w/o DLC" on the disc version, where there wasn't any DLC around to include.

Now, let's go to the current categories and the runs submitted on them: -Low%: If I want to be nitpicky, finishing a run of low% is impossible, as killing an elemental snake head in the Yamata-no-Orochi will buff your weapon with the corresponding element. Either get rid of the category alltogether or get rid of the "No Buff/Debuff" rule. -All runs BUT Simoteus' run on the current Any% should be moved to "All Main Missions w/o DLC" on PS4. Simoteus run to Any% PC, where his RTA no load time is 3:31:13. -All rules should be updated to make clear what you actually have to do. Currently Any% says "beat the final boss", but who is the final boss is not clear at all, because Credits are placed before the last Main Mission's boss. One could argue one way or the other. As such update the rules with what I've written above about which mission has to be finished.

Edit: Lastly, runs should only be conducted while offline: While you're online you get a boost to your clan bonus, and this bonus increases the longer you are in the clan (up to a cap I believe). Therefore being online gives an advantage for people running the gamer for a longer time than people starting with the speedrun (you can easily check a run is done online on the map.)

See this video by AxelSaGo for reference:

On the PC version, one would force an offline run by setting steam to offline. On the PS4 version, one would force an offline run by disconnecting.

(Since this is a simple to do mistake, which only gives a small advantage, my personal opinion is that a run should only receicve a time penalty instead of being removed or not accepted if done online.)

Thank you for your consideration.

In response to Simoteus' post in discord: I'd prefer Simoteus to run the Nioh boards.

He's part of the speedrunning community for Nioh and knows about recent developments of the run, for example the RTA no Load plugin for PC runs.

This are qualities, I don't see in our current moderation.

I agree with Simoteus' too. We need new category (with DLC) and separate versions PC and PS4 view the difference that loading gives. So if DenzVe gives support to him I'm too!

Mission/Region order in NG+ runs

From now on, NG+ runs will require the regions to be played in order for clarity's sake. Mission order is still up to the player, except in All Dojo Missions, where you must start from the top (Basic Action Controls) and end in the bottom of the list (Dancing Tonfa).
