Hi everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself to you. It's really cool seeing so many interested in a hobby like this and I am excited to join the community (and eventually come after that World Record 100% lol).
My name is Evan and I live in Nebraska. Like many (or all?) of you, I've been playing video games all of my life - all but two years anyways! Super Mario Bros. 3 was the first game I've technically ever played... even if it was without it being plugged in... (What is your "first time story"?)
Anyways, Mega Man X has always been one of my favorite games to play. I have many more favorites as well and I am hoping to eventually try my hand at all of those down the road, but this will be my first game attempting to speedrun.
I want to thank Walrus_Prime for his tutorial videos! Thank you for uploading those to YouTube. I've played this game a lot, but I was surprised in many ways:
- I was surprised at the few routes I knew from having played it enough times
- I was surprised at how many more routes I didn't know from not having played it enough
- I was surprised at what high level players really were compared to myself lol
Without your tutorials to help (which I still haven't finished), I wouldn't have cut my time as much as I have.
I've only been playing and recording my time. I will be investing in a capture card down the road, but the practice is mostly what I need right now anyways. I've cut my time from 1 hour and 11 minutes to 49 minutes and 23 seconds. So thanks Walrus!
Thank you for reading and I look forward to joining you all! (Do you have advice on which capture card is best for old and/or new consoles?) (How long has everyone been playing this game?)
