Can anyone explain to me how a boost from when lakitu rescues you works?

I do understand that lakitu rescuing you is not ideal for a speedrun where most respawn shortcuts are banned, but I can't think of a single other forum on the internet that could give me this information.

So the frame window from being rescued from falling off the edge for example on sky garden or rainbow road is pretty forgiving and is very consistent.

However I'm trying so hard to figure out the boost from being rescued from for example water, regular out of bounds, or lava. I know that this is possible because I have done it before. But for hours I've tried going frame by frame to see what the frame window is but I just cannot seem to find it.

If someone else knows the frame data for this that would be awesome as that's the only part of super circuit's main mechanics that I can't grasp.

From what I know (I haven't fully tested this in TAS but this is from my experience), you have to be rotated by Lakitu the whole time for it to work. No idea why, but if Lakitu spins you the entire time as he puts you down, you'll be able to, and if he straightens out, you wont.

Canada

yeah both types of out of bounds work the same where it's just hold A for x frames before getting put down. except that you can only start holding A once lakitu has moved you to the correct location, which doesn't matter for if you fall in the void, but otherwise you just don't have enough frame to charge the boost. so you need lakitu to be rotating you for some amount (i think around 45 degrees going by memory?) while in the correct spot so you can get it

i hope that helps!

I understand now!!! Thanks so much!!! But I hate how random and inconsistent the ability to do it is. The amount of time it takes for lakitu to bring you back is very hard to predict. Even if you know you're gonna fall into the lava and go at a weird angle or if you're doing the ultra shortcuts on SGB, VL2 or CCI, still lakitu will straighten you out while he brings you back if the respawn point is far.

So I guess you just have to get lucky with the respawn point not being too far away from where you fell off, whilst also having fallen in the lava/ water/OOB at a weird angle. Seems like a lot of things have to go right for it to work.

I hate the mechanic now but thanks so much for the help!! ^_^
