you can switch weapons, but the question is if it would be faster during a run there are a lot of opinions that charge blage is currently the best weapon, I would say take the weapon you are skilled the most with, or the one you have most fun with, just my opinion, greatsword, hammer and charge blade should be pretty good tho

No, and Yes. while weapons are compared to each other by default, you can press "Filter" and then choose which weapon to view, so if you're the fastest person with that weapon, you can still have your bling.

Some encounters may call for different weapons for different reasons. And maybe multiples pending on the mission.

I personally run with a long sword or bowgun since I'm best with those atm.

I mainly use the hammer. However after the first two quests a more single target oriented weapon may be more ideal for the rest of the run.
