Ball Room Good Pattern?

Hello there, I just started learning 2 boss and I seem to have everything down untill I get to the ball room in which I always get bad pattern and I'm not entirely sure why. I also never seem to be set up for good pattern on Ridley either. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd check yogi's tutorial, but I think it's entirely based on the cart/rom you're using and deaths since last hard reset. I THINK all carts/roms will give the good pattern before the first death of a hard reset (ie not just the reset button but a full power off/power on cycle). If you hard reset and don't die, should get the good Ridley pattern and same ballroom every time.

Yeah, I've been kinda just watching Yogi's tutorial over and over as well as his 18 min run just to see what works best and to learn. I think maybe my mistake has been practicing on the NES Mini maybe? I've tested it on emulator with powering on as well and i still seem to get bad patterns. I usually get to the ball room around 7 mins give or take. Then I usually get bad pattern in ball room which usually always goes really badly and the room before Ridley I usually take a hit and die.

Not sure what "bad" ball room pattern is. I'm guessing you mean the one that i always get where it hits your right as you come out of the door. No clue about the mini, but I can say with a hard reset and no deaths, I always get the good Ridley pattern, even before I started getting half decent times. There are two hints that should give away if its bad pattern. One is the first (or at least i think its the first) squeept in norfair. It can jump 3 heights. If it jumps the highest (almost to the ceiling), then its bad pattern. Second is right outside Ridley's room. The side hopper on the ceiling can jump two heights. If it jumps further off the ceiling (down to where it'll probably hit you), then it's bad pattern. That might help you figure it out earlier anyway

Usually the pattern I get in the Ball room is usually the opposite where the ball moves away from the door and doesn't hit me as I come in and then usually in the long corridor as you would normally follow the three balls to the end I usually have to take a hit as three of them will be coming to the right and dodge at least 4-5 single ones coming from the right. That's usually what gets me and I usually end up dying in that room. I also always get the squeept that jumps the highest. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong lol.

To revisit this, I just got a new cart and have only gotten the good ridley pattern once out of probably like 20 attempts (some spread over 3 different nes's... 2 front loaders and 1 top loader). Tried hard resets, deaths with soft resets, etc. Still only 1 out of like 20+.

Man I'm pretty late on this so I hope it's already been answered but I'm pretty sure it's the "Spiderwaffle freeze" (thats who I learned it from anyways), you freeze the 2nd to last Geruta(red ceiling hopper) 2 rooms before the elevator to Ridley's Lair as it's moving to the right, and that makes one of the balls go to the right since those 2 things occupy the same RAM "slot" giving you good pattern in the ball room. The freeze itself is unimportant, as long as the direction when it leaves the screen is right or possibly straight up and down, but if it's moving left you get bad pattern.
