Full Run Any%

Okay Lag I finally had a run good enough to want to make an account on this site. My idea for the Any% was to start the clock as you hit the map from the main menu, and stop when you get the "We are victorious" message on the last quest, which is always Spires of Death for me. No save scumming but restarts are allowed, or nobody would ever want to deal with the demon. Speeding up using the in-game settings is allowed, as when I did not it took me 10 hours to do what I can do in 4. I get that this is different from the individual level runs you guys have been doing here, where you do not adjust the in-game speed, but I think that since this is for the full game rather than one quest at a time an exception should probably be made for it. Either way completing the game in under three and a half hours is pretty cool in my opinion, and after many streams of people bothering me to submit a run here I figure I finally have one good enough to want to, pending you mods' approval!

Sure, submit it! Requiring normal in-game speed seems insane for such a long run on a niche game, so I think it's reasonable to change it.

I would prefer we find a way to also include in-game time for better comparison, but that's life I guess.

Two things

Clarify in the Rules that this is north + south without (balance of twilight)

2: What is the full intention of "no save + load"?

Since you are using real-time instead of IGT, when you use save-loads it's a time loss to begin with (eg mostly for safety)

In majesty there are only a few applications -

Exploration Dismiss spell RNG Fight RNG in situations that could go "either way" Gambling hall in NON Elven treachery levels

Gambling hall is a non issue because with maximum game speed, you can't react fast enough to spend all your marketplace money anyway, and many of the beginnger/intermediate quests are finished entirely with the starting gold -

Dismiss spell is entirely for Vigil for a Fallen Hero at the end, and I think with fast game speed - it's a 8-12(good vs bad luck) minute level (no dismiss) as opposed to the 3-4 minute one. In my opinion with fast game speed on anyway, the real time it takes Dismiss to recharge is fast enough that with no S+L the strategy would be to KEEP dismissing (after he walked back from a non-palace teleport), because it would still be more consistant than getting your heroes to him and 2nd/3rd dismiss is still something like 6 minutes.

Exploration based S+L seems like it would be a timeloss (for Real time) with no upside(IGT only upside), so it's not really an exploit, and probbably wouldn't even be used.

Fighting RNG - Mostly applies to some of the finnicky bosses (Slay the Mighty Dragon, Darkness Falls, Vigil for a Fallen Hero, maybe Liche Queen) - I feel like it isn't super advantageous and the OTHER bosses are fights that don't destroy your town so with the fast forward on you can just re-recruit until it's over.

So this is going to be my noob reply of the day. How exactly do I submit the run? I've (clearly) never used this site lol.

Secondly, the no save/load is purely just because it would feel too scummy to do otherwise, although I disagree that it would be a timeloss to do otherwise. To me if I was to save before, say, aggro-ing Red AI on Urban Renewal and then my barb rush failed (like it did in this run lol) it would save me more time to just reload the save than to start the quest over. Again this is just me personally but I feel you should have to restart the quest if you fail, not just load before you risked anything, and also because save/load in Deal With the Demon is cheating Kappa

makes sense fair enough

@Ramsrock39, go here: https://www.speedrun.com/majesty1/full_game

Hit "Submit Run", then put in the relevant stats and link to your run in the fields provided.

I only just added a "full game" category, so you couldn't even do this before :p

Alright thank you very much!

I just have one question about the rules. I start the time when I click the map in the main menu, not when the first level loads. Will that be an issue?

I'd prefer to keep the timing as it is on the ILs, so I'll just edit your time to have 4 seconds knocked off once I verify it.

...that is, if the other runners agree that it's a good way to time. I haven't done this in years. :P

I'll just start timing that way myself in the future lol. Might as well keep the time as it is though, I don't think anyone is going to be challenging it
