I got the game from myabandonware and when I play it, it appears to be in fullscreen but when I use OBS to record the screen, it turns out that it's not in fullscreen. Example:

So my question is, does a run have to be recorded in full screen to count? If so, how can I get it to do so?

One of the moderators will have to answer this for you. I did some manual fixes that took me a while to figure out to let it run windowed mode, for ease of recording on my end. There is also something you can change within the code to let it run fullscreen in a different resolution and aspect ratio. I don't know if I can post links here but if you google "Lego Racers 2 windowed mode" one of the top searches should be pcgamingwiki, I found the solutions on there. I had some real trouble getting stuff to work but I made it in the end. The quality on my run is quite good and I was proud that I got it to work. Alternatively you could always just stretch the game in OBS probably. Although I don't see why it being a smaller screen would deem it "illegal". Cheers!

Not full screen doesn't equal illegal, as long as I can see the whole game screen.

There are a few ways you can make the game take the whole recording, though:

• Record at the same resolution as the game, rather than a full 1080p recording.
• Stretch the game view in OBS.
• Follow instructions on https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Lego_Racers_2#Widescreen_resolution for widescreen resolution. (I should look into setting up an actual patch that can be installed without a hex editor...) - NOTE that if you follow this method, the crosshairs on missiles won't line up exactly with the cars unless they're in the center of the screen.

Many runners put extra information in their margins, too, such as the speedrun timer, a webcam view, or in my case chat and a view of what keys are being pressed.

Alright, thanks! I just submitted a run with the game stretched in OBS so it doesn't look too bad. Didn't put anything in the margins bc I just wanted to play the game lol
