Run removed from leaderboard?

So, my speedrun for the career-mode Mun-and-back has been flagged as only a "sub-orbital flight over the Mun" and removed from the public leaderboard and is not in the World Record history.

If it wasn't clear that the ship hit the Mun, then fine, I'd understand. However, in the video, you clearly see me HIT the Mun, and BOUNCE off the Mun (I went back to check that it is the case). The game dun goofed, but anyone would look at that and say, "yes, you landed on the Mun."

I've already recorded another run with the same problem of the game mis-labeling, despite hitting the Mun. I'd say it makes more sense to judge the runs by eye, and not rely on KSP's nonreliable system. All I can hope is that whatever mod reads this will agree with me and change this (Because these rules that seem to be in place are stupid).

EDIT: Oh, now it's back up. Still labelled as sub-orbital, though.

Yeah, that was a mistake, didn't mean to hide your run, that should be fixed now. As for labeling the runs, I decided to do that because the game doesn't count bounces as landings for whatever reason. I didn't want to reject your run because, as you stated, you clearly do the whole run and whatnot. If you want the game to detect your landing, you actually need to be touching the surface for about a second.

I have also had runs where I bounced off of the mun's surface, including one 10:56 run. I personally don't submit my own runs that signify a sub orbital flight because I feel like that doesn't fall under the definition of the category. I understand some people disagree, and this is open to discussion. You are still able to submit such runs, but they will be marked as such.

I do agree that KSPs landing detection system is a bit flawed, that's why your time is still up. Basically I'm trying to avoid people complaining that runs are cheating and such because "you didn't achieve the proper game value" or whatever. I have had people complain to me in the past that certain runs break certain rules and should be removed. I don't want to remove runs for silly reasons, so labeling runs and leaving them up seems to be my only good option.

In my opinion, if your ship touches the Mun, it should count as a landing. It's not an important enough issue for Squad to deal with it, but I feel that a simple bounce should count as a landing in speedruns.

Using a flawed system as an official guideline doesn't seem like the best idea, and human brains are good enough at doing things on their own that you should just be able to eyeball it. Heck, add an official rule as to what counts as a landing in the rules for the category so that there is no confusion.

Since there is no official rule as to what is or is not a landing as of right now, the mods should be able to make that judgement call on their own.

My run that's up there technically isn't valid due to the same reason. I can understand why we'd want to have this be a rule, but in all honesty, we're dealing with a final craft that is so hard to control once it hits the ground, we'd all be wasting incredible runs due to simply falling over waiting for the "we've landed on the mun" message.

Alright, to avoid drama, I'm going to remove the extra variable. Speedruns should be about fun firsthand, and I don't want to take that away. Heck, I'll even submit my 10:56, because I don't really have the time to beat your 10:52 tonight anyway.

I'm not sure if I'll do another run anyway; I'm already really proud of that run there, and I don't want to do another 15-odd runs before a successful one.

Literally all 16 of the prior runs hadn't even been completed; in most of them, the materials bay exploded on landing the second craft. Well, I wish you the best of luck in absolutely demolishing my current time! I'm certain that a sub-10 is possible.

Yeah, you should be proud of it, it was pretty solid. Sub 10 is going to be really hard though, and I'm fairly certain that would require a direct suicide burn or something. So I don't think I'll be absolutely demolishing your time, but yeah, I do want to beat it.
