Hia! Not sure if this is know to y'all yet, but Steam actually added downpatching functionality back into the Steam console, so using the Steam downpatcher or Depot Downloader is no longer needed. Might be worth updating the downpatching guide to reflect this.
You may be surprised to find that not only is this mentioned in the guide, but it's also one of the first things in the guide
Not sure what guide you're referring to, but i just tested it and op is right, the original way of downloading depots with the steam console is working again, no external programs needed. The downpatch guide i could find here recommends the beta tab (it only has 2 patches) or using a external downpatcher / depot downloader, they aren't needed anymore.
Yeah, it happened around mid-March (see: e.g. https://github.com/fifty-six/zig.SteamManifestPatcher/issues/10), though the guide still mentions it. Guide will probably be updated soon enough
As far as I know, steam can only downpatch to public beta, 1221, and 1432. (without depot downloader ofc)
