I don't have that exe file. But it shows the dgvoodoo logo in mm2 ingame so i know its active. Hmm. I see you have a discord maybe we can meet there if you use it, I'll try to find you
I'll check back if I can solve the issue. Right now I'm not sure how I get into the DgVoodoo config thingy, it's been a while since I did that
Windows 8.1, DgVoodoo yes. I can play just fine, even on GameRanger playing Cops'n'Robbers online. It works just fine, but the loading times in between is my only issue, as it interferes with speedrunning.
I'd be interested in attempting full-game runs. In practice, however, while not relevant for individual levels, i figured that my loading times between levels are consideribly higher than in the WR run.
While in the WR run i measure about 2-3 seconds, on my local machine I measure 8-12 seconds - per level load.
This is a problem. At around 60 levels, that clocks in at (6-9 seconds timeloss per level which get us to) 6-9 minutes.
I don't think it's my machine. It's not the newest laptop but certainly enough to run MM2 at a good speed. I also put the game on SSD which didnt change loading times, so I don't know what it is.
For now, I'll keep running individual levels, but I'd like to resolve this :)
Thanks for the information. On fixed it says:
How high you can go depends on the power of your host CPU and on the selected core (above). If the value is too high for your CPU the emulation will slow down and the sound starts to skip.
This could potentially be a problem and needs to be verified on a range of multiple machines I guess?
sometimes they move on turn one. did you check back after the fact if the AI actually didnt move? in some cases they go for runes or even if they just get a hero to join them that affects time I found. I can run turn one in the same scenario on the same machine 10 times and 9 out of 10 times it takes 1 second, one time it takes like 5 seconds.
But I agree, if a fixed cycle speed makes things fair, that's good. i dont really have a too strong machine myself so thats definitely a factor.
And I guess this needs a lot of testing too.
jump on discord lets work this out. im uploading the file and adding it

I had more bugs. In the same video you posted, check out second 4. The lord of fire (red) button is greyed out, but you can still set him to knight. I don't think it has any effect though.
I believe these bugs are graphical only. Also in some other run, this blue glitched "!" button was red instead of blue.
Also, when you did Alt+X, and press Alt+E when your turn is done, rarely, the Alt+X-Screen will turn up, but the turn ended nonetheless and enemies start moving. But you need to click it away nonetheless.
Thanks a lot! It's actually great, the community for this game is so small but a few of my times already got beaten and I had to fight hard to take them back! This is huge fun!
Warlords 2. Very small community, but we allow emulator, are friendly and welcoming :)
Hey!
I used to play Warlords 2 in my childhood, and when I saw that there are speedruns for it I checked the runs out. When I saw them, I knew instantly: I can do that more efficient and faster. 3 days later and I got approved 1st place runs in every category that has runs on the game. I recently finished a very tough one and it was really rewarding to win by just a few seconds!
Dudes. Start speedrunning games you like, even if these games are not well known - it is a rewarding experience!
Currently thinking about other ways to run the game:
-Tutorial map - annoying because of the instruction popups, but you can finish the game by capturing 4 out of 6 cities with a congratulations screen - and it's really short. why not?
-completionist style: all scenarios back to back? including / not including the tutorial? could include some timing splits there which would be something new.
-other difficulties / settings - thinking about meaningful settings
-terminate all opponents (with or without having more than 50% of cities?)
-no ruins / temples etc. Finish without inspecting with hero
any other ideas? Some of them seem interesting at least in theory I think
You are right, it's not clear-cut. Anyways, all-random settings seem absolutely fine.
Nice catch happycamper! Thank you for the congrats.
And oh boy, I'll have to work hard on Dragon Realms. That's seriously a tough one.
I found out that it's not THAT big of a problem. The randomness ranges from 70 to 100 cities in steps of 10, so only 4 possibilities: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 cities. It's not too much to ask to reset a few times until you get 70 I think. And maybe on a great layout you can manage 80 too. Only 5 more cities to capture to win than on 70, and a central position, good map layout and ally luck can easiely compensate that.
We can keep it all factors random!
Can you help me joining the correct discord or contacting you? I'm not that well experienced with discord. Found my way there. sent you a message!
Is the # of cities random? That seems to be a problem. Re-run until you get a small # of cities and good starting RNG to win magnitudes faster...
