I used this on the Lynel "grab 20 shock arrows" side quest; saving just as I was about to die and re-loading. When you reload, you are in the same spot, but the Lynel is back at spawn point.

The WR holder has run that version, his best time is a 1:26:30. So a 1:23:19 runner has a 1:26:30 and he said there's probably a minute of mistakes in that run, so expect 2:00~~ of time loss between JP1.0 and NTSC-FR

The times you submit would not be adjusted for text. If you run on the French version, you have to accept any time loss you might get. The runners who would know about the french version aren't around right now, and I don't know if any text comparison has been done. I know US is 59 seconds slower than JP for text.

It'd help if you joined the ALTTP discord (see the thread on that) and get help in real-time as opposed to this setting.

It save one frame if you do it perfectly. Most people don't do it frame perfect, so they lose time.

Have you tried the Practice Rom? It has all the major save-states built in, as well as ad-hoc savestates and inventory editing, etc. You need a specific version of bsnes (bsnes-plus) to run all the features of it, but it's what we use for practice. You can find it at http://milde.no/lttp

He removed all of his runs. Jadin's decision.

Deaths are allowed, EXCEPT for intentional overworld deaths intended to warp you somewhere. You can intentionally die in dungeons if you wish.

8BitisGr8: Regarding Any% timing, the game runs in frames. Things can only happen in increments of 1/60th of a second, so any precise timing would be in 60ths of a second, and not ms. There's no super accurate way to re-time a VOD down to the frame in this game (if you framecount your local recordng and your twitch vod, you can get different frame counts) so, seconds is the best we get. A lot of runners time their run down to the 10th or 100th of a second, but that's for their own purposes.

cannot pause timer. You can pause but timer must run.

SNES9x 1.54 is fine. Any official release of the SNES game (US/JP/PAL 1.0-1.2) is allowed. Splitting software doesn't necessarily matter, but if the split timer and the VOD don't match, you may be asked to retime. There are plenty of people who submit poorly recorded runs.

No one will ask for a local recording unless your time is especially suspicious (first run is a 124, for instance.) Your OBS recording is fine. All of my submissions, for instance, are just twitch vods with discord voice chat over them. Game audio is definitely preferred to be audible, but you can have voice over top.

3DS runs would be US 1.1 I believe. Perfectly valid for speedrunning but a bit slower. If you submit a 3DS run with video, that's no problem I believe.

If you read through this entire thread, there are links to other Any% NMG guides that are substantially more thorough. Fruitbats' guide tells you the order to do things in. Andy and RunnerWatchers tell you how to do them correct. Also, I suggest you watch a lot of runs, as well as Xelna's gold segments on youtube.

In short, follow all the top runners and watch them when they stream, ask questions, stream your own runs (people will show up to watch and help if you want).

As far as 100%,, here is the 100% route: http://pastebin.com/G27ZkTmS

If you link to a VOD of one of your runs, I can tell you, but the answer is probably just: your movement isn't optimal, and you are fighting enemies that you don't need to fight.

Timing for Speedrun.com for all ALTTP categories STARTS on File Select. For Full Game Categories, timing ends on the last frame you have control of link when you enter the door at the end of the Ganon fight. For item collection categories, timing ends when you press the button to collect the item (open byrna/mirror shield chest or pick up master sword.)

Your intermediate splits, do whatever you want. Most people split either on catching the pendant/crystal OR when link puts his sword up at the end of the cutscene. Sword-Up is most common. But split times don't matter for leaderboards.

You can use just about any controller. Turbo isn't allowed.

If you are looking for a controller for emulator, look into iBuffalo or Tomee, or get an adapter that lets you plug a real SNES controller in to your computer Tomee makes a good one of those too.

Local recording isn't required. Stream on Twitch or Hitbox or Youtube or whatever. bSnes is fine. It's good manners but not required to use emulator input display. Timer is preferred. Everything else is optional.

Keep in mind, by the way, that the true Any% is quite difficult to get a time worth posting in. You might want to start with a different glitched category. All Dungeons or No EG.

The new route is pretty difficult. You should learn first to do basic clipping.
