Also, the clip you reference isn't new; it's been known about for quite some time. The optimal route for the category never even enters the castle.

Allowed for runs. Please indicate that you are using a Super NT, and which of the two framerates you are running it at. Also, I've heard concerns that a soft-reset on the SuperNT doesn't clear RAM properly, so for proper prize packs and to make sure you don't run afoul of RNG manipulation rules, it's best to start runs from a fresh power on of the device.

A raphnet adapter will add sub-frame lag, such that it will be negligible, and at that point, it's about configuring your emulator properly. An emulator like RetroArch (which utilizes allowed cores such as SNES9X and higan) allows for some configuration to mitigate and nearly (but not entirely) eliminate input delay.

I always recommend a real controller and an adapter. Raphnet makes good SNES->USB adapters, and so do Tomee and Mayflash.

The hacked version of the SNES Classic uses the stock emulator built in, called Canoe. So the platform is the same.

We all tend to use our own split files. Most common splits are below. For pendant and crystals, the custom is to split when Link's sword goes up after the cutscene.

Escape (split when the screen stops scrolling at the transition) Eastern Desert Hera Agahnim's Tower (split when the door closes when entering the fight, we split here so we can see execution on the dungeon vs. the RNG of the boss fight) Blue Balls (The Agahnim fight itself, where times vary based on the RNG of the fight.) Palace of Darkness Thieves Town Skull Woods Ice Palace Swamp Palace Misery Mire Turtle Rock Ganon's Tower (Split when Link lands on the pyramid) Ganon (Split when the screen STARTS going black entering the triforce room.)

I suppose you are talking about Any% No EG/DG/WW. The category was traditionally Any% No EG with DG and WW being considered a form of Semi-EG, Those glitches were reclassified to be their own thing, so the NoEG/DG/WW nomenclature became a thing. Any% with EG is 90 seconds long. Kinda boring.

regarding the blue balls, they are a significant time loss at higher levels. 3 blue balls = 24 seconds unavoidably lost. (6 seconds, plus an extra 6 for 3, 7, & 11). so it kinds gives a "normalization" to the times, and a quick visualization of how much of the time was unavoidable. 3 blue balls is the difference between a 1251x and a 1245x.

EG is Exploration Glitch, which is changing link to a layer he shouldn't be on so as to walk between rooms under the floor. DG is Door Glitches, using items in door frames to confuse the game as to which room you are in, can be used for swapping chest contents or moving into EG. WW is wrong warps, for instance, clipping into an unexpected and unreachable pot to go to an unintended destination. Defeat Ganon, for instance, uses a wrong warp from a Hyrule Castle pot to get straight tot he Ganon fight.

It's a RAM value, and not something inherent to the file. Hard resetting the emulator/console clears the RAM.

SNES Classic will perform much better in the input lag department than nearly every other emulator on PC, save a properly configured RetroArch setup. Hakchi2 doesn't change this. If you have the SNES Classic as an option to run/stream on, i'd say it's your best option short of a real console.It's better than virtual console and emulator, not as good as OG hardware.

You had armed EG (exploration glitch, the trick that lets you get hit through the floor by the blue guard) by doing the jump/save, and instead of continuing on, you started a new file with EG already armed, when you jumped out of bed, it put you into EG on the secondary EG map (Link's house is on a second map from which you can't reach anything else, and you crash the game if you wander too far.)

This happens every now and then to people messing around with EG. To be safe, you should tell your emulator to do a hard reset before starting each run.

There are (to my knowledge) no clips that are emulator exclusive. If you look at Xelna's Any% EG run, it uses the same route as the WR run, but Xelna's run is on console.
