np, good luck with your runs
@V1per44 some advice from someone who occasionally runs Bedrock: If your going for full game runs, best tip early on is to finish as many runs as possible, and don't worry too much about time. I would recommend resetting for a village, then look for a lava pool after getting the essentials (dig down if you can't find one). In the nether, travel along the z axis to find a fortress (could be the x axis btw i'm not sure). If you aren't overly confident with Blaze PvE, craft a shield. The best way to learn trading strats is to just watch runs, also bear in mind you have a 1/3 chance of not getting pearls. there's no reason not to skip nights with a bed while trading, so you might as well. i can't really help you with triangulation and end fights, so see if there's guide at https://www.speedrun.com/mc/guides hope some of this helps, main thing is use trading strats and don't worry about your time, just complete runs and you'll naturally improve at parkour, PvE, inventory management and other mechanics. When you become more confident, start implementing more advanced strats, and if you fancy a break from rsg or want to ease yourself in, run the category extenstions, which are more casual.
I'm not much help to you, so your best bet for any more questions is at https://www.speedrun.com/mc/forum
@Median if you have a nes or snes, smb 1, 2, 3 and world are all good. if you don't want to do mario and want a more combat platform-y feel, try ninja gaiden, castlevania or contra, but there are loads of good 2d platformers on nes and snes so i'd recommend trying a few to find which one you like.
if you want newer platformer, my recommendation would go to cuphead
@xenkaroshi Uncharted, The Last of Us Remastered, Spiderman, Bloodborne, Persona 5, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Gran Turismo?
@rileysucks new categories aren't being added atm. there is an unofficial category extension website, so i'd recommend asking there instead. https://www.speedrun.com/mcbe/thread/c6p6o
didn't really know much about speedrunning until summoning salt's video about rainbow road ultra shortcuts got recommended to me. dozens of ridiculously well made videos/documentaries later, here I am.
salt summoned me
it's also wort mentioning my footie league has been suspended for quite a while due to covid so i've had some spare time on my hands
@PoleoGoleo just to add to this, you can submit any pb run you like, and don't worry about the modifiers, they're usually happy to have people running their games. However, if you obtain a world record run, or even a top 3 time in very popular runs, i would recommend submitting your run as soon as you get the chance. This is to avoid hoarding, a technique which is explained in the thread linked above. Although very few games have specific rules banning hoarding, it is considered bad etiquette. Other than that, submit whatever pb's you want. I personally submit every pb, but it's completely up to you.
@dimaond_speedz there is an IL for obtaining diamond in the obtain item leaderboard, and it can be done with and without structures.

@jotscho3 chest loot is randomized on every new world for Bedrock, so even two people who use the same seed will likely get different chest loot when they make a new world. This is different to Java, where chest loot is the same every world as long as the seed is the same. The run is almost certainly not fake.
I'm fairly sure you're not allowed to submit runs on cracked versions of the game.
@The_squerils_return cookie clicker could have a whole thread of quotes on it's own.
"Your cookies are becoming popular in the neighborhood" is my favorite, ironic considering how the late game ends up going
@nadudesignnoithat the above post is true for Java, it is also allowed for Bedrock if you are running that version of the game, just turn on 'Show Co-Ordinates' at the world creation.
Assuming that you're running one of those versions, here are the forums for those games: Minecraft Java - https://www.speedrun.com/mc/forum Minecraft Bedrock - https://www.speedrun.com/mcbe/forum
If you want to run Classic, Legacy Console or any other Minecraft game or server, it should be on the series page Minecraft (Series) - https://www.speedrun.com/minecraft/forum
Some more iconic ones:
"Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle" (Super Mario Bros.) "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this" (The Legend of Zelda) "Great fighting!! You were tough, Mac! I've never seen such finger speed before" (Mike Tyson's Punch-Out)
amazing how some text on a screen can become so iconic and recognizable
inspired by the best music thread, i'm interested to hear what are your favorite quotes of all time in games? I'll start with some personal favorites:
"It is a good life we lead brother" "The best. May it never change" "And may it never change us" (Ezio and Federico Auditore, Assassin's Creed II)
"What in the goddamn.." (Benny, Fallout: New Vegas)
"What's Tibetan for RPG?" (Nathan Drake, Uncharted 2: Among Theives)
"That's alright. I believe him" (Joel, The Last of Us)
@Lieutenant_Boo thanks for clarifying, i don't know too much about mk64 speedrunning other than summoning salt tbh
