Hey everyone,
The Gameboy category has been very competitive lately and I've noticed that maybe there are some inconsistencies between runs because of the use of different emulators and timers.
For this category from now on, everyone should:
-
Use Gambatte and capture the window border of the emulator on the recording https://github.com/Dabomstew/gambatte-speedrun/releases
-
Livesplit to track the time showing in the format ss.xx
-
Use and capture input indicator https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/nohboard.44/
-
Capture in 720p 60fps or 1080p 60fps
Failing to meet any of these requirements incurs a penalty and your time will be displayed as ss.x99 on the leaderboard.
All the current runs on the leaderboard will get the penatly,
Leave a comment with suggestions, questions, etc..
Yeah, I think we should include those. It's easier to track it as the end of the run

I added you as mod, you can make the appropriate changes now.
Yeah! This is where I meant @Nordanix but instead of clipping that way, you are propelled to the top of the area saving having to do the whole path in the tunnel. I got it only once.
I want to add that the Time-stop glitch becomes harder to on higher fps. Higher fps also glitches the damage enemies do, it's really strange because it feels it's random and sometimes enemies 1-shot you to red.
In 3-7 there's another Elevator clip that can project you upwards and saves a lot of time because you don't need to travel your way around in a sort of tunnel. I could get this clip once and I tried a lot to repeat it to record it but I wasn't able to reproduce it.
In the boggie fight on casual difficulty with the anti-armor pistol is relatively easy to quick kill it. The rocket launches seems to be a good alternative if you get to that point without pistol ammo.
Someone clearly didn't watch the run to tell there's a glitch being performed there. Stick your passive aggressive crap somewhere else.
All criticism around glitchless makes no sense. Every time that the discussion comes up someone brings a non-issue to the table to try to justify its exclusion. Rail boost on glitchless? Where, when?
Also it's kinda silly to try to threaten me as if I have something to lose. There are no concerns or problems, the ones that existed were accepted by people in the community (or they omitted themselves from giving an opinion) to only later on a single guy decided to remove glitchless because he wanted to.
LOL this thread is on fire for no reason. I'll put some more wood.
TheBritishRunner: "I say Glitchless is more skillful and nothing meme", "Just because someone people dont like a category doesnt mean the category shouldnt be there"
Yeah it's not a meme and it's more skillful when it comes to combat. Lot of the criticism of glitchless comes from biased hate of glitchless category in speedrunning and people who don't run glitchless.
CreeperHntr: "Argent Energy Tower for example: define what is inbounds and out of bounds." , "Define rules that actually make sense and can be applied on every level"
There's no out of bounds in this area on glitchless. You got the wrong stage to try to make your point.
The rules were defined. The problem was that all mods in this game didn't want to verify glitchless runs. For instance, I found the accidental invincibility glitch in Vega that nobody noticed for more than a year and people were doing it in glitchless.
Jamacanbacn: "Running the game will make your comments more credible"
That's true, if someone wants a console category they should do a run of it first even though I don't see a problem of adding a variable for consoles since they're listed below the game's avatar picture.
guacodile: "just saying "play the intended route" is really not how that works man. that's probably even worst to define, honestly."
I know right? But apparently that's what the mods here wanted because everything that is not intended is considered a glitch in their point of view.
MisterMunkki: "Can you guys please stop spamming my notifications, thanks Kappa"
I'm sorry. you're a legend dude. You and Judgy are my favorite glitch hunters in speedrun history.
Psychonian: "Speedrunning isn't about being good at the game. It's about being fast at the game. If you're wanting to display your skill at d2016, that's great! You can do that all you want! This just isn't the place for that."
If that's true, why there are categories for Nightmare and Ultra-nightmare difficulties in this leaderboard?
Agreed, I made you a mod to make the appropriate changes.
You'd be the first because no one else did it.
To keep it registered here: these are the current known skips using the Time-stop glitch

The load times of this game are surprisingly long for a 2D platformer. I have the game on a SSD and it still feels way too long.
I'm not a programmer but I have a suspicion that this time discrepancy is a bug in the code related to trying to pause the timer during cutscenes. To change that it would be required for cutscenes to count as game time (which is not absurd) and someone programmer savy to alter the code.
After the start of the run, the timer only pauses during loadings, people use the loadless timer component on livesplit to do that automatically.
I kinda have an idea of what you mean with running into an opening door but I'm not sure. Can you give an example?
I think there's no difference. I used the chinese version more as meme.
