California, USAWhen you told me about farming that long long time ago, I was under the impression that IGT was still running. That's why I never brought it up. Over time, I had forgotten you used it in DMD runs, and realized on my own that the IGT stops in that segment. Again, I apologize for not realizing this sooner.
I still disagree with orb-farming in an Any% run, simply based on what Any% implies. Beating the game as fast as possible. Therefore, if there isn't a category for it, I am definitely putting runs using this method under Segmented. I care more about keeping Any% clean of IGT abuse, over my world record.
I have already talked with so many other speedrunners from many different communities/backgrounds with In-Game Timers. This blatantly goes against what a Single Segment speedrun is. Any% means you're beating the game as fast as possible. Meaning, you are not required to go back and sit around for as long as you please. You are required to GO BEAT THE GAME. The fact that you blatantly agree that you're abusing an In-Game Timer is just proof that this is not okay. I already gave you a great example of buying all of your skills/items early on by farming for as long as you want, and you tried to play it off with "i don't need all of those skills". Of course you do. They are vital parts of going fast in this game. You could use Vortex as you please, and have enough holy waters to get you through half the game already. Come on, man. How many examples do I have to give for you to just accept that this is wrong?
Both you and Yami will have your runs moved to a separate category during the leaderboard change. The solution is not the leaderboard change itself. The solution is to not farm orbs because the game conveniently stops the IGT. If the specific category asks you to backtrack in that section for a secret mission (100%), that is fine. You must fulfill the categories requirements, and the devs stop the IGT there. However, farming orbs after meeting said requirements is also against Single Segment. I will be setting up new rules to prevent this sort of things from happening in Any%, but the least I can do for you guys is set up a different category for these types of runs where Orb-Farming IS allowed. We have to be open-minded at these times. It's very important, especially if this new HD release does bring new runners to the scene.

Developers stop the IGT, so suddenly it's okay if you spend as much time as you want to farm a currency that is necessary to make the run faster/more comfortable? That is not single segment. You're still playing the game and getting ahead. With this logic, you are also implying that it would be fine to sit in the beginning of Mission 8 until you had so many orbs that you could buy everything you need for the rest of the run. I mean, what stops you from simply farming for 30 minutes? You see how this doesn't pan out? I would have done this a year ago if it was actually a just and viable way of running the game. I appreciate your hard work Snawk, but this isn't a new route. Yami, I also apologize to you for not realizing that your DMD runs contain orb farming with the IGT stopped. This is something that I thought was generally avoided in all runs. It is abusing the IGT to get ahead. Very impressive times could be accomplished with this route, but I am completely against a timer stopping while you continue to play and get ahead.
Devil May Cry is a very hard game. Speedrunning it just makes it harder, and I bet your Sum of Best is much better than your pb. Just like mine is. Theoretically, Snawk, your time with the route I have already been using is achievable if you get more S ranks to use those Holy Waters you used, as well as a couple other strats. I would like to move forward with the upcoming release of the HD Version on PC/PS4/Xbox, make a rule that addresses this "orb-farming" method, and change this leaderboard to show these types of runs under a different Variable, while moving Low% to it's own Misc. Category. (To keep it clean but not lose Yami's run.)

Update: Variables for Patched and Unpatched have been added. A quick reminder to new runners that when submitting your times, make sure to provide an IGT as well. Whether you use the auto-splitter, or manually remove load times by doing math, an IGT time should be provided. I'll go ahead and count the seconds for the two Glitchless runs that were submitted recently, but make sure to submit both times in the future. Thanks! I honestly don't even know why you're posting here Prawnik. You seem to have absolutely nothing to do with this or zgl's goal from this thread. All you're doing is speaking your mind. Which, quite frankly, doesn't matter in this situation. Not only do you not understand what it is like to have a full-time job creating content that is initially free in the first place, but you're just taking jabs at everyone. Including the person who started this thread. If you want to speak your mind about the situation, please do so outside of these forums. Your say has absolutely no impact on this game, so go back to Outlast.
Same with Jakasmo. Just leave and stop getting involved in something you have nothing to do with, just because you have your own "universal truths".

Want to know why I didn't verify the hundo? I have never verified a hundo since becoming mod, so I have very little knowledge of it, and didn't have time to watch the entirety of it either. I was very busy that week and trusted that someone with more experience in hundo could verify. To be honest, you have to be pretty impatient to make such a big post like these ones because it took a week to verify it. Wasn't even due to a grudge, people were just busy.
Here's the hot part of my take. (Kind of just sick of seeing the same two people getting blamed when the other is playing the innocent act.)
Stop talking so much shit about these other mods. They do their job and one slip up turns into them suddenly not being able to do it at all. That makes no sense. Especially when some of us have jobs that are very hard to maintain success in. Going as far as to donate to a mod on their stream to get their attention AND tell them they're doing a "bad job", is so childish and unneeded.
Would you like it if someone came to you and told you that you were doing a bad job, and that your runs should be taken down because of it? How about in front of an entire audience watching your stream? What if I came to your stream and donated just to say "I can barely see the game with this garbage layout. You're not doing your job very well." It would feel bad. It SHOULD feel bad. Being told that you're doing a bad job and should stop because of it. When in reality, they should just be understanding of another human being. Give them time and space.
Let us do our jobs in peace. No more of these threads, please.

I suggest going to the bathroom, pick up a med, heal, check the door to the other hallway, and then try to trigger her getting up. Walking over her body over and over will not do anything. You must try to walk away from her about 4 or 5 feet, and then try again.

I believe sticking to the right wall in that hallway with Jack gives you a greater chance of him not hitting you while getting the key, but I believe his attacks/movements are still RNG.

The cop will always spawn as long as you have checked the Locked Double doors (Ox door), and then go into the kitchen.

As a content creator who is also a top player of a few games, I have one piece of advice.

I'm just gonna say No. Knife Only is Knife Only. Also you don't even need this strat for a 1:46 in this category. I stopped running as soon as I got WR because there's a lot of RNG and it wasn't really fun anymore. ¤shrug¤
What is this "bomb strat" you mention?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this "interesting thing" you've found isn't anything new. (or at least to me?) You essentially waste time getting Jack to throw you through the wall, walk around the entire area that you would originally pass through, just to fall on to the staircase, and now you have an extra item in your inventory.
No. This is basically just Low% but with grenades, and even Low% doesn't need a category.

After reading through this, and talking to multiple people, I find that most runners would like to see the Mods "FPS Option" gone. Considering the FPS mod is the only option that actually changes the time of the run, only that Option will not be allowed. It's supposedly helping the game function properly for a lot of runners, so the Mod itself is okay to use.
I can't just DO IT though. I will need everyone to reply to this sometime in the next few days with either a "Yes", or a "No".
So... Ban the FPS Option?
A good friend of mine, Bird650, was playing this game for the first time on his PS4. He walked around the room a bit and sat down in the chair from the right side. He wasn't pressing anything at the time, and I told him "This channel sucks!" in chat. Then the TV exploded after Lucas said his first line.

After the AGDQ 2017 run, I have decided to create the official Discord Server for anyone who has or will be running Devil May Cry.
