This was discussed between some runners before this page existed, and it seems we all agree that the timer should stop upon the last input of gameplay. Therefore, timer will always stop upon entering the crawl space.
Well thanks for the update. I suppose I'm wrong to say that the objectives are what unlocks challenges, but I'm definitely against changing the rules to abide by the skulls. The skulls are slow and boring to achieve in almost every challenge. The objective-based rules make for a much more interesting category set.
We've updated the rules for All Collectibles after briefly discussing these perfectly valid points you've made. Thanks for all the questions so we can get this kind of stuff sorted out sooner, rather than later.
There's a way to erase achievements on Steam, but for Consoles, I am not sure. You bring up a great point, and I have a feeling more research will be needed for this before we can really count it as an official category.
EDIT: We're working on a possible solution for Console. Achievement Remover will be used for Steam.
@rellik2117 Do you have proof of this? When I played Challenges for the first time, I don't remember unlocking the challenges based on Skulls. Even if that were the case, that would make a boring category, considering how slow it is to actually achieve the Skulls on certain maps. The routing I've done for Challenges, based on Objectives, has all of the fastest, and most interesting strats. They're also all technically Individual Level records.
That's not true. You can reset the cabin.
No, the JMB is not allowed.
This is nothing new. Pausing to see the dials was discussed LONG ago, and none of the top runners of this game ever do it anyways.
Seems like a pretty boring category, considering it requires you to achieve nothing. Would rather see the FT13 runners try out the Any% Challenges before adding anything else.
The reasoning, is that when you do the Challenge mode for the first time, the minimal amount of Objectives needed to progress to the next challenge is 3. It is a form of completion, but it is the minimal requirement. It IS technically Any%.
You can run the game however you'd like, and you can post it all over the internet for the world to see. It doesn't need to be on sr.com for you to run it. A lot of people wanted categories on this CE board, yet there are barely any runs. Some of these categories have less than 5 runs, and the game has been out for months. There really is no point to adding any more categories.
Knife Only is a classic category in the resident evil series that should always be present and somewhat optimized. True Ending is kind of a weird combo category that can showcase the players skill in both runs, back to back. Handgun Only is a neat mix between a challenge run, and speedrun. Not as quick as Knife Only in this case, but still interesting. No Knife seems like you're not using the knife because you just don't want to. Not a challenge run, and it doesn't change much to the route either. Just makes it somewhat slower.
I see no reason to add that to an already inactive CE board.
Hey there. Since Handgun Only is a relatively new category, I thought I'd just post a run here to showcase how quick it could actually be. I didn't really give it a ton of thought, since it's pretty simple routing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I hope all you Handgun Only runners take notes and improve the time for Leon. It's a slow, but fun category.
Just because you can't submit it to a leaderboard, doesn't mean you can't do it. Feel free to run the game however you want, but we're definitely not adding categories to a leaderboard just because you're playing the game a certain way. If that were the case, then we would have hundreds of pointless categories that nobody actually cares about.
It's not impossible actually. Downpatching is a thing.
