Amazing work! I'm just hoping to get sub 50 now lol
Why does my displayed country on the leaderboard now say "United Kingdom" instead of "Scotland"?
This needs changed back.
Yeah.... I ain't beating this any time soon lol. Dat RNG.
The victory song over the credits is so Scottish
Hello,
Will there ever be IL boards implemented? Would be interesting to see the fastest times for each level and put together a theoretical "best possible human run" from them.
In the Streets Of Rage community we had a similar dilemma. We fixed it by having leaderboards where you speedrun to set levels like Level 10, Level 25, Level 50, then take an intentional death and that's when your run ends.
Thank you all, feel silly that I never noticed that myself
Hi all,
I use fceux. I used to use a save state to quickly reset back to the Start menu (assigned it to a hotkey on my controller, so I could just press "L2" and it would reset back to the start menu).
This seemed to be fine when I submitted runs around a year ago, but my most recent run was rejected for breaking the "no save states" rule. Which is fine, the rule is there for a reason and I'm not arguing it.
Can anyone suggest the most efficient way to reset, that won't break the rules? I don't want to have to put down my controller, click Menu, and load the entire ROM in every time I screw up 1-1.
How do you guys reset?
Thanks
You can have fun with this especially with Adam and Shiva, just constantly dashing to never load the next screen / fight. Although why you would want to in a speedrun is anyone's guess, but once you know it exists it is fun to mess around with.
I used to think we should have only Easy / Hard / Mania back in the day
But we made a decision to keep all difficulties. If you ask me today, despite disagreeing last year, I think it was the right decision in retrospect.
Don't disrespect yourself by saying you are nobody. Your opinion is as valuable as any of the rest of ours. My opinion is, the boards are absolutely fine as they are. But it is fun to discuss these things.
Also it may have something to do with you having not done a run before. I don't know a lot about Livesplit but I know it always acts funny my first run of a new character then corrects itself on my second run onwards.
If you want to manually split, I suggest watching other runs and seeing exactly when the auto-splitter starts and ends.
Like I say, it doesn't matter though because any runs you submit here will be on your IGT anyway. But if you personally want to manually split your runs for your own benefit, just watch any other run and it will show you exactly where the splits start and end.
We record the game using IGT anyway. So as well as the auto-splitter that Bill mentioned, just know that it really doesn't matter. Using livesplit is purely for the player's own interest; it's the in game timer that is used for this game.
Twitch Highlights work well for breaking down full-runs into individual videos. However a word of advice - 9 times out of 10 you'll find you'll get a faster run by going into Level Select and just playing the individual level on its own. Although there are the odd runs here or there that have an amazing individual level that never gets replicated on Level Select, like I say if you're wanting to try to get the best time possible on a level, level select is usually where you want to be.
Hope that helps :)
Re: Mr X Nightmare
I also think it would make most sense to have it as it's own board separate from anything else, and just have all the characters combined
It's really a test of your own individual skill. I don't think it makes sense to split it into each character. Like the fastest to Level 5 might be a random person playing Shiva but fastest to Level 50 might be someone like oil_moon with Blaze3 because he's put the time into that character
(You could add characters as a filter however so people could look at the board that way if they wanted)
That's my Day 1 opinion anyway. I'd have it away from everything else, and just one combined leaderboard per arbitrary "fastest to level X" steps (maybe 10, 25, 50...).
Also I don't think Random Sim or Weekly Sim need split. Weekly yes you get to practice the order, but Random you might get better luck, so it doesn't matter. Could always add it as a filter also, if people want to see the differences
Thanks :)
I think for survival we might just need to pick arbitrary levels (10, 25, 50?) but I think it would be nice to have some kind of category for them. Of course, we will know more once we've had more experience playing the mode.
I completely agree re: movesets. It's up to you as the runner to figure out which moves are most optimum. Your build-out is just the same as someone who relies on specials as a crutch / grabs / etc. It's just the way you play the character, so having different categories would be redundant.
