The idea of this category would be make it easier and invitefully viable to bring more people to the forum.

Since this game can get frustrating in full game runs (it is a hard game)

I was thinking in creating more simple categories, but also very fun.

I thought of 2 categories

  • Versus - One Character

and

  • Versus - All Characters

*EDIT

(definitive rules are suggested on my last post)

Sick! Please let's try adding more runs to the board.

WeaponLord6 years ago

I'm currently running the PS2 version. I haven't been able to get a descent run (damn, this game can get so frustrating xD) but I'm improving with each try.

I have a question: Is there any difference beetween PS2, xbox and Gamecube?

I have the PS2 version, but I might consider emulating the gamecube if it's a better option. But is there any diffeence? What you guys think? Also, is it easy to emulate this game on gamecube?

WeaponLord6 years ago

PSP and PS2 have major differences

The item placement, Damage and speed is quite different

But the biggest difference is that PS2 Version has an entire extra level, TRANSYLVANIA

Which automatically makes ALL PS2 runs longer than PSP runs. So it is quite obvious that both versions should have different boards for each console =P

I've been trying to contact Crisco for some time to discuss with you guys about a better approach on the boards by splitting PSP and PS2 versions in 2 different boards

As you can see in this video:

@Liv Thanks for the clear answer. I'm sorry you had to contact someone by Twitter to solve an issue brought to this thread, it should not be needed, but anyways =P I guess it is as it is like you said... I thank you for that. If the super mod sees your twitter and not answer I supose it means he doesn't bother handling the board fix at the moment...

As for your question and explanation: "Have you tried to contact this particular user already? If they're a mod for the game, then they should be able to sort this out for you already. There is no difference between Super/Standard mod in terms of permissions for editing the board itself. So, I'm not sure what giving them Super Mod would actually accomplish for this particular task."

Yes, I talk to @JayTheIdiot all the time in Steam and he agrees that the board is incorrect and needs to be fixed. I really didn't know that all mods have the same permission to modify boards (i never notticed because I'm super mod of most of games I mod, and not "second mod" I had no idea). It seems he doesn't know that as well '-' That's good to know! I will try to talk further to him, meanwhile!

thx a lot!

Ps. Btw, how do I quote someone's message like you did? '-'

@Daravae

I may have used the wrong word. I meant that social medias are personal (not private). They are personal stuff of people, and not related to Speedrun.com like "in order to have one you gotta have the other" As I explained to you. I already tried to contact the super Mod. I made effort to contact him on "alternative" social medias available for both of us. The problem is, I don't have twitter, he doesnt have youtube or steam. So, who is to blame? Me for not having twitter, he for not having youtube or steam...? (That's the problem on depending on other medias to use the site). Who would to tell which medias one must have or not in order to be a runner? Unless you tell me that it is a rule to must have specific social medias to use Speedrun.com. If so, then I didn't know and I'm sorry.

Liv said I don't have a way to be contacted as well. What does it mean? I am right here, lol

I created the right thread on the right place, at the right forum of the right game in the right website. Where super mods get notification about.

I don't plan to insist on that, But I do wan't to be fair for the fair it is:

I created a thread on the forum about a month ago. The only super mod available saw and ignored. '-' I contacted other Mod on steam, since this mod has steam (he had seen the thread on notification before I contacted him by the way), and he said that there's only one super mod and only one that can do something

This super mod saw the thread and ignored. So do I have to create a twiiter account and go after him and beg him?

So I create a Twitter account and go there and send messages So he ignores my messages on twitter too. So I come here and bring you printscreens to prove that I tried to contact him and he keeps ignoring...? Is that what "substantial efforts" mean?

You guys have an idea how far can it go instead of just giving someone ways to fix a problem? (since the only super mod available is absent)..

At least, It would be possible to give @JayTheIdiot the status of super Mod in the game? So I could at least contact someone?

@Liv I understand that trying alternative ways to find mods in SR.com might be feasible when needed. But it kinda gets out of point like being the "only way" to find them, to make "so mods do moderate". I mean, a person is a mod, is responsibilty of him/her to keep in touch with community of games that they moderate. At least keep a look once in a while. Otherwise... why becoming a mod in first place? So in a nutshell it means that I'm a mod, it's simply okay for me to ignore game forums for like months and vanish. It will be a problem of those runners of those games, not my problem, since they "haven't found me".

We are all part of Speedrun.com. That's our network. We have to give it credit. We are not Twitter users, not facebook users and stuff... =( We are runners in Speedrun.com. Social medias are kinda personal stuff, So a runner has to go in personal profiles beg for people to come here to take a look on forums that they own and should take care of. in their private social places. Using twitter, Facebook, whatsapp, skype, call them and stuff... :(

Imagine you super mods of the website just forget about this thread here and not giving attention 'unless' someone would have to look for you in your twitters. it would be a mess and the end of the site.

The mod is usually online. I'm pretty sure he has seen the thread in question. He just doesn't want to care at the moment. So nothing wrong with that, one has a life to take care of first, when the inactivity its like for days or couple weeks. It's all understandable, but when it comes to a month and keeps going... at least the job should be given to other person with just enough experience to solve the problem so forum keeps going =( You guys would have way less problems to deal with in games in general if this was considered

@Liv Thank you so much

Unfortunately I don't have Twitter, and lost my discord password long time ago. I don't have much time for social media really =(. And the only medias I have are Youtube and Steam (The super mod doesn't have steam or youtube, His youtube account seems to have beem deleted)

I know that the threads are shown to super mods because I super mod some games and I receive a notification when a new thread is created (not always when they are answered) but I do receive notification everytime a new one is created. And I'm pretty sure The super mod has seen it, It's just he hasn't been around on the forum of the particular game long time. If you look, he doesn't have any run on this particular game, and like 90% of other runs are verified by the other mods.

I've talked to @JayTheIdiot on steam. He told me he agrees there are 2 different games on same board and would be good to organize it, but he can't do nothing because Crisco is the supermod of this game.

@Daravae Thank you. I've had taken this to the forum as I've shown, I've created a thread on the forum, but had no response.

I think the main Mod is Crisco, he's usually online but my guess he simply ignored. https://www.speedrun.com/user/CriscoWild/info

Could I have a term for example, a week or so, to try further to contact him, and insist on the thread, and then may I be put as super mod for the game? This just in case he is still absent

Hi, I know there's a million problems for super mods to deal with, so I will keep it simple the best I can.

The game is this one: https://www.speedrun.com/Twisted_Metal_Head-On

And just to show I've already tried to suggest solving the issue by contacting the mod of the game here, but I got no answer: https://www.speedrun.com/Twisted_Metal_Head-On/thread/4l62n

I've talked to one of the mods of the game and he agrees with my point but only the main mod can do it. And from where I see I think he might be busy to deal with the matter now.

The point is these 2 games, are kinda different games.

TWISTED METAL HEAD ON >> (PSP) TWISTED METAL HEAD ON (EXTRA T. EDITION) >> PS2

It's like comparing "Resident Evil" with "Resident Evil Director's cut" for example. The damage system is different, Item placement, the speed of the cars and all. They are totally different versions, PSP and PS2, but were put in the same leaderboard

The things mentioned alone would be a good reason to have a leaderboard for the 2 games.

But the thing that makes it unavailable for competition is that the PS2 version has an extra level to beat in story mode. So those who play on PSP will always be on top records for shorter story mode time compared to ps2. It's kinda self explanatory. Like a Resident Evil on Wii had extra cutscenes or extra rooms, and other in Xbox has not. it would have to be in different boards for each console.

I don't want to just bull in and make a problem on something, I'm really a fan of TM series as you can check in my runs and I have recorded more runs waiting to be submitted. I know it would be better to have fixed it before runs were submitted, But I think is better to solve now than later when more people submit more and more runs, the long it takes the harder it will become.

The way I could suggest is either

  • requesting a new game for PS2 only, and later when the mod of this one is back he changes it to PSP only. So both games would be in Speedrun.com separately. or
  • being able to modify the boards and slipt consoles PS2 and PSP on this same game,

(Again, I know is annoying, have to erase runs already submitted... but, There are runs from 2 different games on same board, And I'm suposing that runners could just re-submit them without a problem)

Nothing to do with speedrun but...

Twisted Metal: Black all takes place in Needles Kane’s/SweetTooth’s mind. SweetTooth is the other personality of Marcus. Since SweetTooth is the stronger personality, Marcus is stuck in SweetTooth’s mind, where everything is dark. Every character’s personality and story is a representation of how SweetTooth thinks or something he has done in the past.

JUNKYARD DOG - Being betrayed BRIMSTONE - Lies of religion OUTLAW - Ineffectiveness of the law MR. GRIMM - Regret for a horrible act/Addiction to a horrible act ROADKILL - Forgetting your old life CRAZY 8 - Revenge against someone that has blinded you physically or mentally SPECTRE - Never finding love/Being an outcast/Selfishness DARKSIDE - Loss of innocence SHADOW - Friendship/Avenging someone important to you YELLOW JACKET - Broken family/Legacy after you die AXEL - Guilt for someone’s death WARTHOG - Removal of remorse MANSLAUGHTER - Demons/Intruders MINION - The biggest obstacle

The only ones who are aware of their presence in SweetTooth’s mind are Marcus, Black/Manslaughter and Calypso.

Minion is Marcus in SweeTooth's mind. That's why when we play with Minion we see those messages in codes "I DON'T THINK THIS IS REAL". "I THINK WE ARE TRAPPED IN HIS MIND" and so on.

Black is a demon who was sent by his master, from the real world, into SweetTooth’s mind to kill the Calypso in SweetTooth’s mind.

In the real world, Twisted Metal is an actual competition. The original Twisted Metal, 1995 (also Twisted Metal 2 and Twisted Metal Head on) is the real world.

Black’s master is the real Darkside, Mr. Ash/Darkside from Twisted Metal (1995). Mr. Ash is the devil.

Calypso obtained his powers by stealing Black from Mr. Ash and using Black’s demonic power to grant the wishes that the winners of the contest ask for. Since Calypso is present in SweetTooth’s mind, he used Black’s power to transport from his real body to his body inside SweetTooth’s mind and hides from Mr. Ash there, while remaining aware of where he is. Since Black is also present in SweetTooth’s mind, Mr. Ash sent Black from his real body to his body inside SweetTooth’s mind to kill the Calypso there. Since Calypso does not control Black in SweetTooth’s mind, Black is able to follow Mr.Ash’s commands. Since Calypso is aware that he is in SweetTooth’s mind, being killed by another aware person would kill him in the real world also, which is why Mr. Ash sent Black to kill him there. Mr. Ash cannot go himself because he does not exist in SweetTooth’s mind, which is why Calypso chose to hide there.

SweetTooth does not notice Marcus, Black and Calypso being aware because SweetTooth sees his imagination as the real world.

Since PS2 version has an extra Level on Story Mode, wouldn't be better to have different boards for each platform?

The code "Exchange Weapons for Health" is considered Cheating?

Effect Exchange Weapons for Health

Code While playing the game hold all the shoulder buttons and press TRIANGLE, X, SQUARE, O.

Also this other one that requires the full bar

Fireball and Frezze attack "During game, with your yellow bar full, hold down L1, L2, R1, R2, and press right, left up. This will shoot a devasting fireball and also a freeze ball."

The first one uses health and the other uses the power bar

I hope someone had the same problem and managed to solve?

Everytime I finished a run or reset the timer, Livesplit gave me this message

"You've beaten some of your best segments. You want to save them?"

But now this message stopped showing up. it just doesn't happen anymore. Either I finish the run entirely (beat the game) or reset It just does with no message and never update the times...

Anybody knows how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

@Komrade Calm down. I also talked about the game versions. I didn't flood the topic or anything. As for the roms politics, I kept that in mind, and for that reason I didn't share any website adress. Also, some people have the original games, so it's not a problem to play the roms

@WeaponLord You got the right idea

The thing is Duke Nukem TTK has playstation one Tomb Raider controls (notorious for being difficult), but it's more an action game than a platformer. So imagine how it is like.

In other hand, it's so fun, has the best references for movies like Evil Dead, It smells of the 90's, got the best Duke Nukem quotes in the series (in my opinion) has good gore. Nice animations, Nice weapons, cool bosses, It's decently fast to run (about 40 minutes in easiest category),

Only problems is "the controls make it sooo difficult" and makes you want to break your tv sometimes
