The question with IL's is should we use IGT for these?

Yes we can certainly add categories for the other 2 times. Only thing so I myself am not versed with episode 2 or the timings for it.

There is a lot of advanced tech to this game. Depends on the console you run. I recommend checking out my tutorial video for the game's any% category then watching a video from the category you're interested in.

Some brief documentation on the TAS used 2-3 clip. Credits to callumbal for his own documentation (feel free to elaborate further here) and jesusftb for first pulling off the glitch. I may add images to this later on.

SML Out of Bounds glitch: 2-3 skip

What it is: It's a glitch that allows you to wrap around the screen in Super Mario Land. In 2-3 a very specific setup is needed to get past the barrier for the stage exit to save around 3 seconds.

3rd pillar, last block on the end above the 1 unit gap.

Set yourself up so that you're in line with or slightly below the block

At the middle gap of the sub press down+left for a small window and shoot the block in front of you after you're wrapped around.

When the clock goes to 268 alternate between down and left quickly. You should then hit the goal.

What can go wrong:

Incomplete wrap: you don't wrap around the screen fully before the block is broken, a second timeloss, failed trick.

Shot wrap: Shot gets screenwrapped, failed trick.

Too early, hold left for too long: hit the seahorse, lose mushroom, failed trick.

Different location: can appear above the breakable blocks and goal switch, slight time loss.

Too late: can appear behind goal, failed trick, minutes of timeloss.

Nonexistent coins can be collected offscreen.

Documenting the community's current understanding of RNG in Kirby's Dream Land below

  • unknowns: ROM dependent

  • stars produced show an advance in RNG seed visually to the player, are set when the game is started.

  • Actions that create stars: landing from a jump, colliding with a wall, colliding with an enemy causing it to explode.

  • inhaling creates high star rng skip rate, unknown if this is tied to framerate

  • Rate stays the same going through doors and changing levels, randomly re-rolled on dying, set to default on game start, game over screen, reset done in game.

GB/GBC - Gambatte Qt R571, BGB 1.5.2. All versions, distros and revisions of VBA have known emulation errors and inaccuracies with gameboy and color games.

Just want to mention a brief trick previously known to optimize time and save around 4 seconds through a run. If you exhale with a puff or star automatically when enter a door you'll take an extra few miliseconds to enter. If you exhale manually then enter you don't lose this time. Remember to breathe!

If you need official hardware Vita TV can run most purchased PSP games. Don't have much experience with this myself, but that's what I've seen romscout use for prinny 1.

Hey, been routing this game independently for a few days now and wanted to point out a glitch after the umbrella room. Using the down+up trick and holding right doubles your speed until the end of the room only for some reason. Looking forward to doing runs and would love to participate in the community if there's a group somewhere.

The strider 2014 submission page seems to be broken. Users can submit runs but get errors doing so. errors such as: "Warning:Recevied more than one row. Use query() if you intend to fetch multiple rows. in /home/speedrun/src/Database.php on line 58" appear and the run never appears in the mod verify queue. Can someone look into this?
