they dont work in combat on keyboard
Uh, no, they definitely do
the system is making it where people without social media are basically getting told “Oh yeah no you can’t post any runs
You're making it sound like speedrun.com is choosing to make your situation complicated on purpose. It is not. I cannot state this more clearly; they simply cannot do what you are asking for. It'd be great if they could, but this is just how things are and there's nothing that anyone can do about that.
anything else a mom wouldn’t let a teen do
Honestly even if it was an option I don't really see why your mom would be okay with you uploading a video here directly and not uploading an unlisted video to YouTube that's only linked here, it'd basically be the same thing. In any case, you either have to sort this out with her or just wait until you can make your own decisions. That's really all there is to this.
I don’t see where videos would cost money
Everything costs money. The cloud isn't magic, it's just somebody else's computer. Videos would have to be stored on a server somewhere, and it costs money to run that server. YouTube and Twitch can eat the storage cost because they're run by trillion dollar companies that already operate mass data storage for other aspects of their business (though even Twitch severely limits how much you can store now), and in YouTube's case the service itself is profitable. speedrun.com is run by a very small company with a relatively small userbase (YouTube has 50x more users every day than speedrun.com has total), meaning relatively small opportunity for profit from videos, so comparing the data storage cost to the potential benefit for them this whole idea is unfortunately just nonsense.
Not gonna happen. Video storage gets insanely expensive very fast, there is no world where speedrun.com could realistically offer this even if they wanted to.
If the game's current moderators are unavailable to verify runs, you (or one of the other runners) will have to submit a support ticket to take over moderation for the game. If you're unwilling or unable to take over moderation and no one else can/will either, then unfortunately your run will just remain unverified for now.
Same could be said of StrayIII's intent and SRC/ELO's intent, that's a double standard
Yeah idk man you say you're just defending yourself and "just asking questions", and then literally two sentences later you're again trying to twist my words to make another straw man argument and imply that I'm pro defamation or a shill or whatever. Frankly, it's getting harder to take you seriously.
I don't know what their intent it, and I'm not talking to them, I'm talking to you. As I've stated repeatedly I don't know the full story here so I've specifically avoided commenting on the situation itself, and was just addressing how you were planning to react to it since it seemed like a significant overreaction to me. You disagree. That's fine. I didn't actually expect to change your mind, just felt the need to throw that out there. Sometimes people forget that this is just a website about video games and that this kind of drama mostly doesn't matter.
to think I care about a discord server is comical
lol, ok, only mentioned it because you brought it up. My point was less about Discord and more just that it wouldn't resolve any of the underlying issues that led to whatever actually happened here. Doesn't seem like you really care about that though, so, GL with all this.
Were you coerced to comment and downplay the situation
Lol
Just my two cents. You obviously want people to weigh in on your situation, otherwise you wouldn't have kept posting about it here for a month, so don't get weird about it when you don't like what I have to say.
Not saying anything should be swept under the rug, and I understand defending yourself in general. I'm just saying, an international legal battle is a pretty scorched earth, lose-lose approach to getting a forum post deleted, which is realistically the most you're going to accomplish here. It certainly isn't going to get you unbanned from any Discord servers or anything like that. That's all. Do with that what you will.
The post shows in the list now, things just take a while to propagate sometimes.
Going to reiterate what Liv said:
No one here has full context to your situation though, so it's outright pointless for anyone here to give their side on your specific situation.
To be clear, I don't think anyone was asking for context, more just stating the fact. Frankly as outsiders looking in we have no way of knowing if what you're telling us is the whole story, so I don't think you're gaining anything by continuing to post about this here.
Though I gotta say, I don't know how serious you are about pursuing legal action here, but having now read the allegedly defamatory post (which for the record I would not have even bothered to read if you hadn't gone out of your way to continue drawing attention to it)... think it might be worth taking a step back here and recognizing that we're talking about a forum post with some extremely mild allegations for a mostly dead leaderboard on a speedrunning website. This didn't exactly ruin your life. This was also so long ago that you're not even blacklisted from that leaderboard anymore. It's ultimately your choice what to do here of course, but, you should be honest with yourself about whether this is really the hill you want to die on.
The site's owned by a very small company with limited development resources, and there's effectively one forum moderator. They're doing their best but it is what it is.
Play in a smaller window, or get another monitor. Those are really your only options, unfortunately
ChatGPT, as it usually does, gave you embarrassingly wrong instructions. You do not need to copy, move, or rename any files. Simply setting the save file directory in the tracker should do the trick.
Backup is the wrong folder. That's a backup folder, not the actual save folder. On Epic the saves are stored in the game install location, in BMGame/SaveData
Not aware of any platforms that don't require you to make some sort of account. Certainly none that I would trust.
Seems your options are to just make a YouTube account anyway, or just, don't upload your runs. Not much more to it than that
Apparently we never posted an invite link for the Discord server here and it's a little hard to find these days, so, here's a permanent link: https://discord.gg/29Yk5gR9Aa
If the mods want to add this to the game page itself under General -> Community Resources -> Discord URL that'd be great.
The BC in those is for "backwards compatible". The intent is to use those in cases where e.g. there's a DS and 3DS version of the game, and it's important to distinguish between running the DS version on a 3DS and running the actual 3DS version
Unfortunately no. You might be able to do something with the API, but that may be difficult and it could take a while to put together a comprehensive list that way
That policy change was quite frankly a terrible knee-jerk reaction, implemented practically overnight with no foresight, no evaluation of what the impact would be, and no real plan for how it would even be enforced. It would have solved very few (if any) real problems and made everything far more complicated for everybody. The entire community was so adamantly against it that it was reverted less than 8 hours later. I do not think any part of that needs to be re-evaluated; it's quite clear that it was the wrong call.
Worth mentioning that the site was sold to new owners not long after all that, so any choices made before mid-late 2020 have little to do with the current leadership. Personally, I think the best case scenario would be something built into the site itself, so game moderators can continue to operate autonomously but in a way that gives site staff the ability to directly monitor and more easily follow-up on this sort of thing. Unfortunately, development time/resources are always limited, and with new ownership came new leadership with new priorities, so... maybe some day, but for now it is what it is.
That said, I can't speak to your specific situation (and I have no desire to - I don't wish to take a side here), but given that site staff apparently was involved it doesn't sound like it has much to do with private blacklisting or any particular site policy, seems more like just a (potential) issue with how this specific situation was handled.

Be sure to read all the rules and requirements first
Do you actually want to run the game competitively on emulator? And if so... why?
The wii u version has different mechanics
Honestly, meh. It's not that different, and historically there's been very little interest in this version, emulated or otherwise. I'm not convinced that allowing emulators on the leaderboard would suddenly change that. If there was serious competitive interest there would be a stronger argument for considering it, but as of right now I don't see the point, personally.
Also worth mentioning, Wii U was also one of the more problematic emulators when we last checked, and the game is still only listed as "Playable" on the compatibility page.
transformers armada ps2... the only reason that speedrunning scene is active is because they allowed emulators
This game, crucially, does not have a PC version. Also, unless I'm looking at the wrong game (there doesn't appear to be a game called Transformers Armada, so I assume you're referring to the 2004 game), that game has exactly 1 emulated run. The vast majority of the runs on the board are on real hardware, so, not really sure how you're drawing that conclusion.
As of when we last checked emulators for this console generation were not particularly accurate, so emulation could have an unfair advantage over real consoles (most likely load times, if anything). Hypothetically we could create separate categories for it to avoid that issue if people really wanted it, but realistically nobody cares.
In any case, there's essentially no reason to emulate this game. The PC version is faster, more accessible, and just plain better in every way that matters.
Yes, most of the PC runners do. No reason why it wouldn't be allowed
