I personally don't like the idea of mapping the buttons on a keyboard to make playing 1 Handed easier than with a stock controller. But if the other mods feel it's fine then that's up to them. I just feel it defeats the purpose of the challenge of this category to do that.

Yeah it should work the same. The trick is very precise there is only 1 frame you can jump from for it to work and the height has to be correct is well by holding A for exactly 5 frames. I would suggest learning it with big Mario first because its significantly more leaneant before moving onto small mario.

As far as I can tell and in my own opinion this did not count as killing the despawning plant. Consider this one of the risks you take by trying to go fast towards an enemy that can despawn. Better luck next time.

I just created a new spreadsheet for warpless! It's been added to the "guides" section. The new thing with this is you can change the buffer time and you can add your own PB splits to customize it to compare to yourself :) https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/guide/vx9vh

The timing on my previous record was timed incorrectly and have since been fixed. I retimed my previous record to be 1:28.387 and have improved it to a 1:28.054 last night. The rules have been updated to show that the first 2 1UPs that appear are not counted towards the 10 lives for timing air hopefully there wont be confusion for future runners and verifiers.

Idk where you got the idea that doing a 1 frame jump at a precise subpixel to clip into a pipe is somehow easier than doing a 2 frame walljump.

You must use the reset function of the emulator. Or if you have a savestate to the game selection screen in a multicart that is fine too. It's not that hard guys.

Try getting into the warpzone pipes without pressing left. Most likely warping to world 5 from 1-2 using big Mario clip would be the best way to do this. If you mess up walljump you would just keep moving right to reset the room over. This is an discussion about whether it's possible. Not so much on how difficult it would be to do.

I suppose no left press can be possible. It would he a grind to get the big Mario clip in 4-4. Idk I'd be interested to see how that would go.

Guys I dont know if you realize it but we pretty much got this 30 year old game figured out. I'd be impressed to find anything new that would save anytime in the game. Really it's all about being more consistent at what is known now.

The fastest I've heard someone get is 4-8 to the warpzone which is about 10 frames away from the minimum to get the framrule with a perfect warpzone without fast accel. So 8 frames with a perfect fast accel.

yeah this clip was the original version of Blazit that was used by AndrewG back when 2 bump fast 4-2 was the go to. Its actually slower than the current Wallclip. Also entering the pipe in 375 should have been a dead giveaway that this wasn't as fast as Blazit. A Fast accel at best saves 2 frames when done perfectly and we are far from 2 frames away from saving the next framerule even with the best wallclip anyone has done.

Well if you think about beating the game taking 5 minutes then 11x would be enough to make completing the category to be the highest it can be without making it impossible to best under an hour. Beating the game blindfolded would be more impressive for now since only 1 person has done that. Sub 5 One Handed is also impressive but people can more easily see that as doable over blindfolded.
