Probably best to go to the forums of the games you want to run and talk about it there.
There is a small number of MQ runs here http://zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/ootmq/100 (and you can see No RBA/WW and All Dungeons runs). Don't feel discouraged if hardly anyone else runs a game, you should take that opportunity to try and kick-start interest in the game. OpieOP b
It's not needed (most will go for Romi's Black Mage-main route anyways), but I decided to put it there as I remember Romi saying that Japanese runners have used Monk-main routes before.
Any% is beating the game as fast as possible by any means within the game. As long as you get whatever the game states as winning (reaching the credits, a certain ending, etc.), it's any%. Your run is faster than the other runner's so it is Any%. What the other runner did could become a new category, most likely 100%, or, if there's more to do for 100%, Any% All Pages. Low% is Any% unless you can miss items that make you beat the game slower than Any%.
UglierGoblin found this thing. "by holding down a cast and hitting tier 3 you make yourself unable to climb, and from what I can tell as long as a ledge is low enough and has a protruding corner you can "cast walk" against the corner to force yourself up and it makes you jump"
You're best off ordering a CD from Amazon. And I'd recommend HP2 PC to start with; it's the most popular Harry Potter game and it's a fun speedrun.
I don't know who added the category and I hadn't checked the rules since it's not my area in the series (I don't do PC much), but I've added what Better Any% rules out from Any%. Maybe a category-verification process in the future where all the mods for a game can amend a game's name and ruleset until it's unanimously agreed upon before it's put up could happen (as an option)?
http://www.speedrun.com/requestgame But Nightmare on Elm Street has a leaderboard http://www.speedrun.com/A_Nightmare_on_Elm_St.
I added a favicon that was 10x16, but it ended up stretched
I had to make the canvas size 16x16 to fix it.
Any% means you get all the requirements from Dumbledore to pass the year and reach the end credits. This includes all Challenge Shields, all Portrait passwords (so you need a certain number of Cauldron Cakes), All Pixies defeated from the well, and all Buckbeak sessions (I think there's something else but I don't remember what it is).
Better Any% is more a low% category that doesn't reach the credits; you get to the end of the story (Dumbledore checking the requirements) but you don't reach the end credits because you don't pass all the requirements. It's been called Better Any% because some runners dislike having to get all the requirements for Any%.
pretty low priority, but could there be a way to choose what parts of custom themes get overridden? For example, I would like to keep most of the SRL theme overridden, but also be able to see custom favicons and 1st,2nd,3rd,4th icons.
Most of the James Bond games, in my opinion; Goldeneye N64 is one of the most famous IL speedgames (If you haven't seen Ryan Lockwood's Streets Agent 1:12 video, I'd highly recommend it). From Russia With Love and Quantum of Solace are pretty good too.
The physics feel different; the HD version seems a lot more floaty. Plus the level select is different. Levels seem different from memory, but then again I only remember small parts of the game. Also, if you've found exploits that can't be replicated in the HD version, both ought to be separate.
As far as I know, no HP3 runner uses an autosplitter; we have one in development for HP2 (might actually be fully developed but no-one's used it to my knowledge), but not HP3.
Cronikeys, a well-known glitch-hunter who found a lot of tricks in the Banjo N64 games among other games, wrote a pastebin about how she finds glitches which I found quite helpful. http://pastebin.com/T3Hx3TSz
The separation of ILs from the front page could also address this. I think I saw that suggestion a little while ago, so hopefully it's coming soon.
It's probably best to have a list of requested features somewhere; there are a lot of multiple requests for the same thing.
On the Puddle IL leaderboards, there had been a level with ² on it, as the level is called
The URL was the same for both that level and the level before, and clicking on either one resulted in this
It's not much of a problem now, as it was changed to just have 2 instead, but I thought I'd post it in case.
