Well LA is the original game, and has more glitches in it, so it has more options for the speed run. You're skipping more things, especially with stuff like the fire rod deloading glitch. In my opinion it's more fun. Also you can do Blaino skip.
LADX's OoB rule bans Blaino Skip, but some people prefer that run for other reasons.
You can run whatever you want though, ultimately. I did LA Any% non-ACE even though it's allowed in the Any% category, because I'm not interested in ACEs.
I'm sure they'd accept a deathless run on the LADX Nosqwwoob board. (LADX does have its own forum by the way, if that's the game you're more interested in).
nosqwwoob is an LADX thing for the most part. In LA you usually run what is usually called Warpless, which uses deaths and S+Q wherever appropriate. There isn't really anyone trying to run deathless tom y knowledge.
Deathless would be pretty tedious as it would involve lots of extra rupees in order to buy an extra thing. And would add backtracking.
That's going to vary from system to system and game to game, as Timmi suggests.
For some systems, flash carts give an advantage you can't really account for, because of inaccuracies.
For others they're pretty much perfectly accurate.
For still more they're inaccurate but in a way that you can account for with load times.
CriscoWild, I can't agree with a generalization about this site. This site has been as successful as it has been, because it's let individual communities do their own thing. There's been no attempt to take over and control everything.
The ultimate conclusion of this policy of insisting on leaving up a time, is that you'll have a time with no video on it. If I see a time with no video, how do I know it's legitimate?
Up+a out with the item would definitely work in Zelda II... :)
I'll definitely read your link and study it for relevance tot his very tight bomb routing.
My first attempt died to Gannon, was a nominal 37:45. Second attempt that got out of 3 was a 36:26. First attempt got the NE 100 secret, but I replaced that with 3 other 30 secrets. Turns out I really only need two. So that's a free bit of time to save.
I did level 2, armos secret, secret north of that, heart rock, white sword, up+a secret north of 1, candle shop west of 1, level 3, level 4, up+a South coast heart, south coast 100 secret, ladder heart, up+a Level 5, whistle to 3 Buy bombs/arrows, level 7, magic sword, level 6, whistle to 2 Level 8, whistle to 1 Level 9
Key routing was the routing i'm using in any% + some keys to make up for the ones I can't skip.
Anyone know a better route?
So having watched Tom Votava's historic 2002 World Record run this week, I got to wondering how my skills match up to his.

Can I beat his time, if I don't use the tricks and glitches he had no way of knowing?
- No screen scrolls
- No block clips
- No Level 1 re-entry
- No forced bombs apart from Manhandla and Dodongo
Should be fun to try.
Yeah I'm chatting with Skav now. I think we can work together well. He's a good guy and you made a good choice.

Avoiding false modesty the LoZ section of Red Candle is also the best you're going to get for The Legend of Zelda, as well:
Hello!
If y'all want to link to Red Candle, the resource that the NES Zelda communities have spent years accumulating knowledge on, that's likely your best best.
And of course the Speedrun.com boards are the way to go rather than trying to create a duplicate, especially for Zelda II.
A half duplicated, out of date copy of what's on Red Candle or speedrun.com wouldn't really serve anyone.
Yes! Just can't game over at all.
Absolutely this should be the rule and I already enforce it on every board I moderate. If you don't want your run up, it won't go up. If you want to delete it, delete it.
Any other policy allows this site to be used as a vehicle for bullying.
It wasn't directed at you since you do run the game. It was directed at someone upthread who came in and started in out of nowhere.
What the runner has done in other games, or at all, is irrelevant. If continued attacks on that runner appear in this thread I'm going to start deleting those comments.
Especially they come from drama queens who don't even run the game.
I refuse to let this devolve into a witch hunt against one runner.
It matters because the board exists for the people who run the game, not for you to try to stir up trouble. So your opinions have been given all the weight they deserve.
