Make sure to read the rules for that specific game, but in general yes, you are not required to use a capture card as long as your phone video is of reasonable quality to see what is going on.

If that’s the case, then I’m guessing that OP was getting lost in the subcategories, which is understandable given that there are 120 of them.
Yeah I see transparent backgrounds for all of those, but when I tried to do one for my own profile it showed up as white background.
I was talking about the small one, but I think the OP was talking about the big one.
You can check the IL rules for specific timing, but if you aren’t planning to submit ILs then your splits shouldn’t matter for verification purposes.
I tried adding a profile icon a few days ago with a transparent background, but it would always show up with a white rectangle instead.
