Edit: I have rewritten this post to be more concise and have all information in one post. (up to EBen's May 2018 post) Demo by anti:

I barely if at all cover micro-optimization except when it makes the instapass more consistent (like getting rid of the ambulance passenger door to start Paramedic in time). For those you need to watch a run. Powdinet and Ractrot have posted some info for optimization/routing, the rest is covered here.

Why you should safety save (before this instapass)

 1. The game might crash when you approach the office. It does not happen often, though, but it has happened in runs. (Tech: The mission fail marks several models as no longer needed. So they get unloaded by some part of the game, eventually, (but I don't know when) causing a game crash when you reach the office.)
 2. You might softlock/crash by making a mistake.

Prerequisites

 • copcar
 • call or clothes replay (to gain control during a cutsene)

Steps

 1. Start Vigilante with OM = 0 (using the save point).
 2. Start G-spotlight.
 3. Fail it once by getting busted.
 • After getting busted, you absolutely have to respawn on the Western island. [note1]
 • Failing G-spotlight again crashes the game (dying with om0 does not crash, though).
 1. Suicide for another 12h advance to avoid 7:00
 • the time being exactly 7:00 fails the mission.
 1. Acquire both an ambulance and any bike, park them near the elevator.
 • Do not park too close to the elevator marker to avoid it despawning: ¤ Park it outside the office.
 • Also, get rid of the passenger door (!) since the timing will be tight later.
 1. Hold a call, get on PCJ and trigger elevator cutscene.
 2. Let go of call (or use a clothes replay), get off the bike, quickly enter the Ambulance and trigger Paramedic.
 • Just hold A/Sprint and press F when you are near the Ambulance.
 • You have 2 seconds after the cutscene starts. If you have practise, park properly, and get rid of the passenger door then that is safe.
 1. Leave the Ambulance to cancel the other Paramedic instance.

If you fail to gain control in the lift cutscene... ... then you cannot instapass anymore. You can salvage the situation, though:

 • If you trigger the lift cutscene again and do the same thing you tried to do the first time(start Paramedic in that cs), a different wait offset is used than the first time. It does not instapass but it safely gets rid of G-spotlight, so that you can try again (starting from the very beginning: get a cop vehicle).
 • If you leave your bike but fail to get into the Ambulance in time then you most likely crash:
 • If you start Paramedic, the game most likely crashes (untested).
 • If you do not, the mission goes on but you softlock after leaving the lift. The clock reaching 7:00 should (!) fail the mission, crashing the game.
 • You can use replays to see where Tommy is, maybe you can start a fight and get killed, if that helps...

optimizations

 1. I proposed grinding against that wall to remove the door, anti:"tried that once and flipped so never again". https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/271678097600806912/307501129556688896/unknown.png
 2. Powdinet on the optimal suicide place: "you can do it before the load trigger, just slightly before the lamppost" http://i.imgur.com/jd4xhbM.png Update: According to anti, this description does not apply to the busted warp, but "almost never going to get a cop car to chase you that early" so that it is not often needed to know where exactly you need to be.

More info

 1. To know where you are going inside the office you can use either
 • the first person camera(probably it is the way the cinematic camera works in-doors)
 • or look back. Warning: holding "look back" during the "get-out" animation (after pressing F) starts Paramedic, crashing the game.
 • or look to the side

Notes [note1] (about respawning at the wrong hospital) Else you will most likely crash the game when you are near the office. So just load your safety save. If you do not have a save then you are not allowed to drive past the Film Studios without the PCJ model being loaded. A PCJ replay unloads the PCJ model, btw, the opposite of the hoped effect. [I have heard opposite "opinions" about replays unloading models]

Make sure the cop car does not have a passenger, or else. :D

Credits mainly go to husho for finding the call stack shenanigans. I then found the IP using that, and the 10 (in total) test runs were done by both of us.

I did not want to just delete the old post. ^^ Here it is, whatever. :D https://pastebin.com/yHg3sth7

I agree with your point. Stop the esdf meme, though, please. Just don't use a layout that has a cheat triggered by pretty much mashing a, then d, then three other wasd buttons. It is optimal in the negative direction.

Use Azerty/Dvorak left. They suck way less. If you use WASD, don't complain if you cheat. Just think of all the runs you have wasted because you did not switch layouts.

I don't know. I'll check once I feel like it but all you need to know is: dw about it, it doesn't work, we don't know how to fix it if it is possible.

GermanyPatrick_8 years ago

Ah. You couldn't have given a more interesting answer. :D It seemed like a totally random thing to ask.

This is a relic from when we didn't understand how calls work. We did Are You Going to San Fierro without answering the call that makes the TT marker appear on the map. That call is supposed to also unlock the mission but is actually optional because R¤ messed up. The hope was to have a call available for duping whenever we want one but then we noticed it is not that simple: it is random whether it is a Bad Lands or San Fierro call each time the phone rings so keeping the The Truth call is a pain. So tduva (I think he made the saves) just took it.

As to your question, I won't give you the answer directly, as usual and link you to a resource. Last link in this meta-guide: http://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/guide/yg0kv

The most important two guides I had linked already. One for the mission specifics and one for the "wtf is he talking about here" looking up of terms/concepts.

Edit: link fixed

I'll answer if you explain why you care about this.

:D An uncensored version that supports the Distribution instapass and censoring rampages by switching languages is the holy grail.

[00:08] (+zoton2) well it was fun while it lasted

Can you confirm that your version is uncensored and 100% unmodded? Are you 100% sure? Can you censor rampages by switching to German and uncensor by switching back?

Where did you get it from? Where can we get it from?

Can you come over to #gta to talk with us?

Replays to the rescue, then. ^^ https://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=9-qKmLB1Ryc Then upload replay.rep. Use the Windows search to find it.

Learning how the replay system works is a bit much for this bht you need to learn it, eventually, anyways.

First, I'd like to focus on how much faster Monster duping actually is, so maybe someone who can actually play this game would like to time it. I don't feel like talking about the rest for now, I want to do a run. ^^ Someone press me so that I do it tomorrow morning.

The problem is that the Catalina call is unlocked by Ran Fa Li (or duped Mountain Cloud Boys - not worth it anyways). So we need to use the Zero call or the The Truth call to dupe High Jack (or Monster). Zero is too slow, I'll leave it at that for now.

The The Truth call is only relevant if you dupe High Jack, for Monster, using the Zero call should be faster, anyways.

About the The Truth call If you are curious as to how we would keep the The Truth call until High Jack - I can't be bothered trying to give you a good explanation, just the usual confusing one you are used from me, I guess... It is not my intention that you completely understand this by now, only that it is an option. So how do you keep the The Truth call? By cancelling it every time it comes up. You can use shooting if you are in a hands-free call, getting teleported into a car in a cutscene, or jumping into the water. See the video.

The big problem is the two Toreno calls, for them you can only stand next to the water and keep cancelling the The Truth call until you get the Toreno call... :( These are my notes. The green notes relate to getting a call and cancelling it in case it is The Truth. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KVCA-wOYXgnGj55w-zHxgIrPzf8qnALgk0Z-jPHU12I/edit#gid=0

People have already talked about this here: http://www.speedrun.com/post/53olk Read that first.

It seems quite consistent to me when you do your tests without quitting and restarting your game, but from starting a game and loading the save, it likes to softlock for me. I did not do many attempts but it seems like 1/3 to me... But maybe I am just bad at cutscene skipping and it is fine? You need to skip the cs insanely fast (use two or even more buttons). Sprint, Shoot, Enter and NumPad-Enter work.

I mentioned one instance getting stuck in the other thread. I don't know what causes it but since trying it again a few weeks ago, I never had that problem in the ~5 times I played to the end.

I tried an alternative setup where I hang up the phone during the cutscene and then skip the cutscene with the right timing. If you time that frame-perfectly, it has the same effect as it has for Mew (intro cutscene during the tutorial cutscene), but it can also softlock. Feels not worth it to me. ^^

The text box disappears during Learning to Fly, afaik (Edit:confirmed). If you dupe Learning to Fly, you also get a text box that does not disappear and you get rid off that by starting Flight School itself again after passing it or using Bike School.

First, I need to admit that you can get a wanted level again after getting wasted/busted or loading a save file.

Secondly, Cops still spawn, since you keep getting a wanted level for a frame or so all the time. They can bother you in Monster and when you want to take off with your cropduster, otherwise, they are fine.

Otherwise, (almost?) everything is explained here. Activate subtitles, they add important info!

Thanks Edit: OrionSR for finding this, building on top of an idea by Rhans building on top of ideas of the Special Vehicles community building on top of ideas by the speedrunning community. :D And thanks Rhans for telling me about this and helping to connect those two almost separate "worlds" by mentioning Special Vehicles stuff here.

Editing this to be friendlier than the original :D This is what the guide I linked says.
The information on this page mostly applies to the PC 1.x versions of the game. Duping doesn't seem to fully work on the Steam or Console versions
In other words, downgrade. ^^ There is a downgrader in the SA guides section.

The car bomb meme is dead, I guess.

Technical stuff you can skip, I guess For the setup, you can just start Shakedown twice and pass it. Right after "mission passed", fly to Pizza Boy to instapass it. How does that work? While one Shakedown instance passes just fine, the other instance seems to be incapable of noticing that an audio line can finish^^,and therefore gets stuck waiting for the audio line to finish, And that wait command that is used while the Shakedown instance waits for the audio line to finish is what we use to instapass Pizza Boy.

Ok, now read again :P The strat is: Dupe Shakedown (due to misuse, I explain again: duping means starting a mission multiple times. Setting onmission to 0 alone is not duping SwiftRage ;)), finish Shakedown normally but you have to trigger the "My Livelyhood, destroyed" line first (the one you already use for the instapass). One Shakedown instance keeps waiting for the "Livelyhood destroyed" line to finish. So now fly to Pizza Boy to instapass it.

Cancelling Pizza Boy I know of three ways.

 1. Now that we pass Shakedown, we can start Love Juice to get rid of the left over Pizza Boy instance. "I know just the girl. I know just the girl".
 2. Dying during a call or rampage still works, of course.
 3. Starting Road Kill also works. You get two functioning Road Kill instances and, therefore, you can dupe and fail it, you just need to be quick. ^^ I'm not absolutely certain it can be done without grenades.

At the end of the post, I list which missions I did not try to use to cancel Pizza Boy.

One last, important thing Don't have the phone ringing, that sound cancels the "Livelyhood destroyed" line or sth. along those lines. That makes the second Shakedown instance pass also, so the Pizza Boy instapass can't be done anymore. So make sure you get and keep a wanted level after completing Shakedown.

I just came here to get a confirmation that the fact that links look exactly like text is a bug and on the to-do list. The theme is the "I don't care" theme - I never checked how to change them. Well, actually, now I do care: is there a theme where links are recognizable as links?

This is quick and dirty, some or all of this info might be wrong. I just stumbled upon this while testing something else and SCRLog was running and told me what happened. Reset and Tirean want this figured out. Feedback, please.

Katie can block your calls. The entire time the GFMEET thread makes it possible for you to get her as GF, calls are blocked. Katie is not always there so the blocking probably does not always happen. It probably depends on weekday / time of day. There are two rectangles the game checks. If you are in the inner one, calls get blocked until you are not in the outer one anymore. http://i.imgur.com/0kgSpks.png (original map: http://www.ehgames.com/gta/map.html?4ps7lx8rube)

It's probably better to hold and cancel calls or to use Vigilante to set the call timer to 0. I mean: start Vigilante, cancel it 15s before you need the call. Start holding a call, cancel the call 15s before you need it. It should be 15s (not 16.5s) in both cases.

The call holding thing can also be used to avoid the call before Riot. Your phone rings immediately after Cut Throat Business. Hold that call and cancel it while getting out of your car at the mansion. No call comes in for the next 15s which quite likely is enough.
The only thing I know of doing differently since not getting it is using the boat to get the monster marker before the Cesar marker in SF.
I'm not sure if I got you right. You mean you take the first call after YKBB at the boat in SF and the purpose it to get the Monster call before the car showroom call? How does that work?

Anyways, these are the reasons I know of that can cause issues. It's not very likely to help you but it is worth a try. ^^ There is a ~10% chance of taking a low priority call if you have high and low priority calls in the queue and the last call/mission pass/... was >=1min ago. Edit: So either take the call before the minute is over after the last mission pass or hold the Toreno call inside to boat for - dunno - 30s and then cancel (let go off shift). That resets the call timer, now it takes another minute for the call to come back in.

Also, for some reason, sometimes you don't get a call in SF - the one you cancel 15s before entering Blood Bowl. Edit: reason: http://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/4cxb2

Without pause buffering, it is likely that the mission starts earlier than the call can come in.

Are you skipping Woozie? Kappa That would explain that the call does not come up - it is never unlocked.

GermanyPatrick_9 years ago

That's great. :)

I think I was a bit too harsh to you, so sorry for that - I'm a bit confused as to what happened. :D Whatever.

The resolution thing: That setting cannot be changed during game play, before loading/starting a new game it works fine.
