Now that everyone agrees that any% is actually any%.
Should there be some new category that beats things like the KYFC warp?
A
B, just like two years ago, any% is any%.
It is "old any%" that is renamed to Any% No Warp or whatever.
Any% is any%, definitely.
There is an alternative setup using the best Haiti heli checkpoint time (53636 seconds). ;)
There is an alternative where you blow the plane up before it takes off. You use the SF airport and an RPG. And om0 Vigilante ofc. Recording a video and then editing.
Taking the call gives control earlier. Having a call at all gives control earlier. It is possible but hard to do without a call but you get a call anyways, unless you have to steal a cop vehicle for Vigilante first and cannot get rid of the wanted level which is hard without a bribe.
I start the flight almost as late as possible, if you start it too late, it crashes.
Pressing sprint before - I think before the "skip" text ends - takes your control away from the camera and you have to suicide with satchels and start over.

Hmm ok, so how about a pedal?
Haha, I think that is what I am going to use. The space bar of an old keyboard. :D Let's see if it works as expected - should.
Edit: it seems to me there is no comfortable and safe way to use a foot keyboard... I think I will still use it.
Flight School duping is covered by my last video in this thread.52:15
I'm all for you not learning those strats. Then I'll become 2nd. That would be a great meme. :D
I'm tired but these should be those extra holding time for the proper Woozie skip route. <10min if you can play the game (unlike me).
0:30_2:30 - 3:00 (Outrider om0) 1:30_~ 1:30 Outrider -> Driving School -> Snail Trail 4:00_14:00 - 18:00 0¤ stuff until ICK 1:00_20:20 - 21:20 ICK->Pier 1:40_21:50 - 23:30 TLF 2:15_29:00 - 31:15 11:15
Also look into this, maybe this solves it entirely for you. http://www.speedrun.com/post/apozr
That's covered by the second half of my video.
Here is a way to - maybe - give your poor pinky a break and maybe fix this problem: I have not tested this well, so you should not use it in runs you care about. You get two keyboard layouts, preferably the cheat friendly QWERTZ/QWERTY is not one of them. Then, I'll list all key down and up events, let's say "<" is your call button (the button right to shift on French AZERTY).
- < down
- switch layout
- < up
- switch layout
That way < counts as held down forever - until you press and release < again. Same for all other buttons that
- you held when switching the layout
- have different "characters" assigned in the layouts you use.
I personally use Dvorak Left and switch to QWERTY(US) and back for the trick, using the button (instead of Alt-Shift or Ctrl-Shift) My call holding button is the button next to
Tire pops are a problem but I guess not too bad? Tbh, I have not tested these strats well but: Cancel the call, wait a bit, kill T-Bone, watch the cutscene a bit, kill Ryder in a way that the call comes in while he dies. If you have AK ammo left, you could shoot at the boat with your sniper rifle and use the AK to finish the boat off while holding the call.
:D reset I also use OBS.
You need to fail Vigilante to get the proper camera back, so you need to have an om0 call before then. After that, the time lost keeping the om0 call does not seem to be high enough to justify getting another om0 call.
DW, SF is short now. ;)
Edit: most of SF? let me see and then edit.
It costs almost nothing in ICK, almost nothing in Pier, quite a bit dumping the 300 tec9 bullets. That's all I see but I am not thinking hard.
I want to check out the Spilling the Beans instapass candidate, so I'm not calculating the whole time. It feels like it should be <20%, though, not sure.
video - I can upload a part of my PB same old until T-Bone duped
set om0 call (BB) hold through Outrider (hold call before final cs) Snail Trail kill: hold while killing them with an AK (or try Sniper and unaiming to get a call before the bullet hits?) I like plains hold om0 call through ICK Pier, killing T-Bone and Ryder: after the snipes with Cesar, hold call, let go 15s before aiming at Ryder, your call comes in after un-aiming when Ryder dies. Toreno's Flight dupe get Toreno call buy Zero setup om0 call with Blood Bowl dupe Monster, get heat-seeking RPG do Interdiction do VM once buy air airstrip dupe Learning to Fly
stowaway same old until Fish dupe get om0 call hold through Madd Dogg Misapp dupe inside cs keeping om0 call BP duped SMB
Sorry, I forgot calls and Driving School, derp. :D
Driving School: after Outrider, hold the call through it (literally, never release the hold button).
Calls: Zero call:start of Jizzy Jethro call: During T-Bone outside of the cutscene - deal with traffic Woozie call: during Toreno's Last Flight.
I can upload a video but I messed up a lot in my PB and that is all I have got but the things I got right show some of the things I described in this post. The post overrides the route from the video. Should be up in under an hour. "format not supported" - thanks, YouTube for letting me upload the entire video, then. :)
Give feedback, tell me what I need to explain better.
Yeah, I have been making you wait for too long, busy with instapasses. I'll try now.
Catalina call: http://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/rasn9
There is a ~10% chance of taking a low priority call if you have high and low priority calls in the queue and the last call/mission pass/... was >=1min ago. Edit: So either take the call before the minute is over after the last mission pass or hold the Toreno call inside to boat for - dunno - 30s and then cancel (let go off shift). That resets the call timer, now it takes another minute for the call to come back in.
Determining which call comes in: it is random, there are ways to "invalidate" taking a call, see here: http://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/mr4m5 For that to happen, the calls have to be from separate "call threads", like SF and Bad Lands. There are LS (obvious), Bad Lands (Bad Lands -> AYGTSF call), SF (Wear Flowers -> Woozie casino call), LV (use common sense - the Leone call is LV^^), RTLS. Otherwise, the call order is fixed and unmanipulatable.
Duping Body Harvest: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tCgCoyY9e88apJbbmQKIb2GiQdlIoBFkgcDhYqMj63o/edit#gid=883216134
Body Harvest LelReset tested it: "Works (i did not dupe in the cutscene)" would “softlock” (AYGTSF requires exactly one passed TT mission and you have to complete that mission)
I had crashes back when I drove from the other hospital (or teleported from the other hospital). With this hospital, husho and me never crashed in 10 attempts using Bombs Away (+3 extra by myself with Vigilante and +unknown by Powdinet with unknown mission), unless there were more tests where one crashed. ^^
"Vigilante never dies" means that you can still start Vigilante after starting a mission during it - like taxi in old taxi duping or G-spotlight. That's ("die") how people phrase it when talking about this. ^^
I edited your list:
- Start Vigilante with OM = 0 (using the save point)
- Start G-spotlight
- Fail G-spotlight once by dying
- Save to avoid 7:00(exactly 7:00), because that time fails the mission
- Acquire both an ambulance and any bike, park them near the elevator used in G-spotlight
- Hold a call, get on PCJ and trigger elevator cutscene
- Let go of call, get off the bike, quickly enter ambulance and trigger Paramedic
- Instapass!
about 8: just hold A/Sprint and press F when you are near the Ambulance. Also, get rid of the passenger door.
Also, failing G-spotlight a second time crashes the game.
I think people should still read the whole thread since it contains some good-to-know info not in the list. ^^
Are there any problems with this, btw? I mean, a very simple example would be having control over Harry during some parts where the timer is paused - or things that differ by hardware that are unaccounted for - well, frame drops :D - still, there might be something interesting. Are there uncertainties worth talking about?
Or does it actually make sense to declare runs milli seconds apart from each other as different, one better than the other, - presuming that you count differences under 1s as difference to begin with.
Thanks. :D
The YouTube subtitles contain all the info.
I had assumed that you'd have remembered that from Mh's "tutorial".
8-track ended 2 frames before CJ was considered to be not inside an interior, anymore. You cannot get calls inside interiors, so you get the call at least 2 frames after 8-track failed. Since the way duping with calls works is that you are holding a call while a mission ends, it does not work in this case. Blood Bowl, on the other hand does not end as fast, so a call can squeeze in before that mission ends.
I did not care to get the details perfectly right. Maybe it is possible to use 8-track like Blood Bowl if you get insane luck or something. :D It is not worth it, though.
GTA III 1st Powdinet 5:48:24 That's the thing now. ^^ Albeit an easier target.
Edit: From reading the scm/hex, on the japanese version, it should also work. It executes one "wait" (opcode 9020) less, otherwise it works the same.
Edit2: Vigilante can be used instead of Bombs Away. Vigilante cannot die in this game, it seems from reading the scm. Also, we have this one peace of evidence that it cannot die: It does not die from using it for the instapass.
