They say a fool is born every minute, so I guess I was born a few minutes ago. Does that count?
Only asking because I'm actually just a few minutes younger than Earth itself, and that might be just a little more than what would qualify.
But for real, @Garsh is on point here. Believe me, I was young once, I signed up with fake ages and stuff a lot too, but like, under 13, don't actually say.
Also as a tip from personal experience, make sure you actually write down the fake birthdates you use. You'll never know when that'll be required to recover a password or account. I've had to pay for that mistake more than once so far.
I did always enjoy the old thread, maybe I'll get in on the hunting now too instead of just lurking. Never hurts to have another discord server to look at anyhow!
Also pet pics, because those are always a plus.
Yeah, reading about the nonsense bots and shenanigans was always neat. Alas, bot thread, I knew you well.
This whole stuff with the site changes is still rather jarring to me as I first joined up back when @Pac was still the owner, popped away for a bit over a year, and then I come back and all of this is going on.
Just, so very jarring.
I'm a mod for two games, and an OG Donor so I can get into both special threads, right?
finally, my life is complete
Sweet, I've been waiting on more news for this. Already joined!
Yeah, I usually just listen to the in-game as well. I've had to do it before though, as sometimes longer routes in Rune Factory 1 means you'll be spending a few minutes doing nothing but sleeping, hearing the first few notes of the house theme and the sleep chime on repeat for a while.
Luckily, my setup will let me listen to any music I want without it affecting the recording, so I can jam out to River City Girls if need be.
At this point, the 5* quests in Monster Hunter Tri. This stuff is absolutely ridiculous and is making this by far the most difficult run I've ever attempted at this point.
Alternatively, Maria showing up in a good run in Castlevania Judgement. It's basically a 95% chance you lose your run immediately.
Or even as another alternate nightmare, getting an encoder overload in OBS on a good run.
I could've sworn it used to, but I guess it doesn't. This would be good to have.
Heck, not just good- we need it. How else are we going to contact @PopeFrancis?
Ground Control to @PopeFrancis, please respond
You could always be sassy and call it the "Notable Games Marathon", though that is a bit on the nose.
I think this is a pretty neat idea, personally. Catching anything live is usually rather difficult for me, but I'd definitely make an effort to try and tune in at some point. Heck, basically everything I run presently is rather under the radar.
You know, I don't even remember why I picked these two colors for my name back then. I guess I just liked how they looked.
They still look pretty cool I guess.
Is this where we play oblivion_guard.mp3?
Nah, no point, his Sneak skill must be 100 to get in here so easily. We'll never catch 'em.
I suppose, as a side note for general clarification on the terms of PvP in games, Mortal Kombat and Smash have leaderboards thanks to having alternate modes available, specifically ones that are PvE. While the base games are designed for PvP, they have defined arcade modes and story modes that do not involve other players, or only do so in a co-operative manner. Overwatch lacks that, so no run could even be considered- TF2 has Mann Vs. Machine, which is pure PvE, so it can have a valid set of speedruns.
(World of Warcraft somehow does as well, but the objectives are PvE in nature. They've probably got some ruling for handling outside influences.)
The thing being with this stuff, is that it's always a question of how mechanically consistent it is, and PvP isn't consistent. Your enemies will never be the same, which means there's just no consistent baseline to measure a run by.
But that's just an aside. As for the main discussion, custom maps and such, @RaggedDan is right on the mark with it. The site rules are different these days, and in general, it seems player-made stuff is harder to get onto the site than it was before. Most of what's on the site now seems to be stuff from before the change and is simply kept so to not cause a giant mess.
Feel free to correct me if anything here is wrong.
There's bits of SM64 rules in there for some reason.
Of course, I don't even know why I bothered to skim all that.
I've never been able to hold a WR for longer than a month and a half. As long as I get to keep them for 2 months this time, you can take them all!
