Right, I just meant Dolphin runs well in general, not that it's particularly accurate- I could've been more specific with that.
It's a bit unfortunate we don't have an accuracy focused emulator like BSNES for every console, but more than understandable. The work that goes into making emulators hardware accurate is immense.
As for "TAS detectable", I'd imagine it's probably a per-game affair. I wouldn't really know though.
Dolphin emulates excellently these days, but yeah, it's very hard to detect if it's a TAS or not. It's not impossible, but the signs are very minor apparently.
I have to wonder if there's other viable emulators that don't have this issue, but as far as I know, Dolphin kinda owns the Wii/GCN scene.
I'm personally all for allowing emulator runs to improve the accessibility of the run- the majority of Rune Factory games permit emulator runs on the same board as console runs, (and DeSmuME isn't really that accurate.) Tricks that are exclusive to emulator are simply banned for use in runs. DS Capture cards are expensive and hard to get, and the same goes for JP copies of the games (although somewhat lesser in price). But it's really a rather small (read: nonexistent) community overall, so this just kinda works for us.
Making a separate board is a valid approach, but I think it's not often taken in part due to all the extra work, and general piracy concerns. I'm no expert on this though, I'm sure someone else can give a better insight into it.
See, I was sad at first because mine's technically 6 characters, but then I remembered I have 3 "." in my name.
im so heckin cool
Salutations,
I am requesting my position as moderator of Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 to be acknowledged, for it is the supreme, best version of the game. Aside from divine right declaring me the rightful heir to the position, I am beyond qualified with years of expertise in playing the game.
If you are uncouth enough to not take me at my word, you can find my channel and my 419 different Let's Play series here: https://tiny.cc/Xxminemaster96xX
My most gracious acknowledgement of your servitude.
Running a country is hard- running games while doing that must be quite difficult. I imagine he must have the account for following the progression of some games.
This leads to the question: what are the games he's following? No way to know for now, I guess.
Ain't got the cash to spend like that.
Of course, I don't want to think about how much money I spent on MMOs long ago
@hahhah42 The blocking in SoR2 has some weird stuff with it, so I could see your interpretation as well. I'm no expert on the game's internal mechanics.
Hmm... if you really wanted to figure it out, maybe get in touch with the SoR2 romhack community? They might know something about why it would happen.
FOOOOMOOOOO PROOOOOOMOOOOO
I mean, at least the PayPal one is kinda related to going fast.
I mean, I'm not a mod of a racing game, but given that IL's are often quite short, I'd imagine it could be a problem with verification unless it was part of some kind of allowed speed tech.
But then again, that's a question for the mods of the specific game. I totally get that life calls sometime, it's happened to me in the middle of good runs before.
I'm always a little bugged sometimes by the pausing limitations on very long runs, but I also get the reason they're there.
@hahhah42 I'm guessing the Streets of Rage 2 trick is related to the co-op mode exploit? I know there's a thing with the how the hitboxes work on attacks, that if both players attack an enemy from both sides that it registers hits every frame instead. Sounds kinda like it.
I don't think I've ever really found too big a skip by accident- I'm usually intentionally looking for them. I guess I did accidentally find a second means of softlocking in Big Broom Race 3... that happens to be identically fast to the other known softlocking method.
I've found some odd bugs in Iris in the Giant when going fast, some of which purely softlock the game, but I've had like a sort of effective invincibility once. Never could re-create it and the footage was corrupted, so that's fun.
