North Carolina, USAIf you lose the blue shell before finishing 1-T and you already used the red toad house, you pretty much need to reset (otherwise you would have to go through world 2 and lose like 15 minutes). If you happened to get the shell in 1-2, you can get a second one in the red toad house.
If you lose the shell after completing 1-T, you can keep going. I think there are backup toad houses you can get, or you can try to kill a hammer bro/red block. In general, don't reset yet if you're just starting out running this game. A lot of levels are quite a bit harder without shell, so just play it safe.
speedrun.com had some accounts hacked, essentially, so they reset the website to a backup from a little bit ago. You can just resubmit your runs and we will verify them again.
I meant that the IW rule change was related to the video requirements topic. I know that emulator recording is relevant.
Unrelated to video requirements, but we have another rule change we want to make: removing the Individual World ILs. They are unpopular and have arbitrary rules.
I've been talking with Andre and v1be, and we have come to the decision to require video for all runs, and to remove all current runs without video. Note that this will apply only to Any% and ILs because they are shorter and much more competitive.
This is a drastic change, but we believe it is a necessary one. We have our reasons and will be happy to explain them in detail.
The rule change and removal of no-video runs will take place in a few days.
As silly as it may seem lakitu, many people have the idea that they're not a part of the community if their PB isn't on the leaderboard. I don't think it's true, but many people do. And if not "being a part of the community", many more people just like the feeling of seeing their name on the leaderboard. Requiring video for all runs will decrease the number of people who feel they are a part of the community.
lakitu, you're definitely right that someone could submit a 26 that they didn't actually achieve. Now the argument is finding a balance between these two situations:
-allowing runs without video: community growth, but at the cost of relying on trust for higher times -requiring video for all runs: community integrity, but at the cost of intimidating new runners who don't have a recording setup
Again, you're right that it isn't fair to someone with a video of a 27 if someone submits a 26 without video, but I think that the benefits of allowing runs without video outweigh the disadvantages.
VC is easier to record than DS.
It's all about accessibility. We want to promote growth of the community by allowing people who are just starting out to post their times without having to mess with recording yet. And the time barrier is there for people who get more serious with the game.
I have been discussing with the other mods, and we think the video requirements should be as follows:
All sub-25 minute runs on DS should require video All sub-30 minute runs on VC should require video All runs on emulator should require video
If I change the rules, I won't be deleting past runs done on emulator.
I don't think we should remove past emulator runs either.
There are two reasons I don't like the idea of separating the runs like in SM64. For one thing, newcomers to the community wouldn't know how much time advantage VC and emu have and wouldn't know how the runs compare. For example, someone not knowing about the loading times might see ILSMB's PB and think that's better than all the DS runs, which isn't fair to the DS runners. Or they would totally ignore the VC and emu times, which isn't fair to those runners. My other reason is that there aren't enough VC and emu runs to make competitive leaderboards; I think everyone deserves to be on the same leaderboard so they can know what place they rank.

There has been talk on the Discord server of banning the use of emulators. I would greatly appreciate it if everyone shared their opinions and provided reasoning here on what I should change the rules to.
Some things to think about: should we ban emulator use only for runs under a certain time? Should emulators be allowed for ILs but not full game runs? Should we ban emulator use only in the future, or should we remove all past emulator runs?
Again, I want everyone to share their opinions. Even if you are a lurker here, please leave your opinion.
Like wah said, you need to hit the right half of Bowser Junior. So start running right for a little bit, do a medium jump, press left to slow down and make it easier to hit the right side, then press right again after bouncing off BJ. If you have video of some of your attempts at it I can tell you what you're doing wrong.

You keep saying that you don't want to argue about what counts as a glitch, but that is necessary for defining the category ruleset. If you're serious about making this a category on the category extensions leaderboard, we must have this discussion.
Yeah the column on the left should be called "Real Time" and the right column should be "Adjusted Time" (or something), but I can't change the names of the columns. So don't think of it like removing loads in PC games; think of it as adding on a penalty for having faster loads.
