I've been talking with Andre and v1be, and we have come to the decision to require video for all runs, and to remove all current runs without video. Note that this will apply only to Any% and ILs because they are shorter and much more competitive.
This is a drastic change, but we believe it is a necessary one. We have our reasons and will be happy to explain them in detail.
The rule change and removal of no-video runs will take place in a few days.
Rip my any% run Oh well, at least it'll be fairly easy to beat it while recording.
Unrelated to video requirements, but we have another rule change we want to make: removing the Individual World ILs. They are unpopular and have arbitrary rules.
I meant that the IW rule change was related to the video requirements topic. I know that emulator recording is relevant.
my first speedrun ever is getting removed from the leaderboards :/ there aren't any crazy good runs without video that are on the leaderboards (the best run without video is 19th place) so it doesn't make sense to remove all the runs that dont have video. I believe you shouldn't remove the runs without video but instead require all future runs to have video.
UPDATE: FINAL RULE CHANGE FOR CLARIFICATION
The three of us had more opportunity to discuss the rule change since the first announcement, and we finally came to a logical agreement. The rule change are as follows:
-All IL runs and any% runs submitted past August 1st of 2018 require video proof to be added to the leaderboards -All IL runs without video proof will be removed from the leaderboards. Note that this only applies to ILs; any% runs will remain untouched -Individual world runs will be completely removed due to their arbitrary rules and lack of popularity
Removal of runs will take place once most people have had their chance to read this.
side note: emulator discussion will be for another day, likely in a different thread
Earlier today, Twitch has that they are "implementing a 100 hour storage limit for Highlights & Uploads starting 4/19." There is a 2 month grace period for people with highlights on their channel to be able to download their highlig
