Rebrand the entire site to news.com and be done with it Kappa
Alright guys, v0.6.3 is up! You can find it in the Resources section here.
Changelog:
- Rebranded the Load Remover as an Auto-Splitter. This means that, appart from removing load times, the timer will now start, split, stop and reset automatically for you (you can choose which of these functions you'd like to use when you add the script to your LiveSplit layout).
- Added support for PSXFin v1.13 (also known as pSX 1.13)!
- After some testing on my own, I found out using a different BIOS doesn't seem to affect the script at all, so that restriction is effectively lifted.
As before, this is still an experimental build: so far, this has only worked on my own PC. If you use ePSXe 1.7.0/1.9.0 or PSXFin 1.13 and you'd like to test this version, I'd deeply appreciate it. :)
Good luck with your runs!
The verification process should take 3 weeks at most. If you find your run still not verified after 3 weeks, you can try contacting the mods through their social media.
Digimon World 2 Any%'s WR currently stands at 16h 59m, but it used to sit at a comfortable 24h mark.
Amen man, amen.
Using CELESTE Classic as an example, the category "Gemskip Any%" only applies to the last few levels, and "Gemskip 100%" applies to even less. I can understand that it might take a bit of creativity to implement this without the leaderboard looking really stupid, but it makes absolutely no sense to force the two categories to apply to all levels, when at most they apply to the final handful.
On the topic of applying categories to ILs selectively, while you mention it might be difficult to avoid making the leaderboard look stupid, I don't think we need to go for too much of a stretch to make it look visually decent:
- When viewing a particular level's leaderboard, if the level doesn't have the category, it just doesn't show it. Pretty straightforward, but I thought I should mention this nonetheless.
- When viewing the general IL leaderboard, make all levels have all columns, but for those categories that are missing on a particular level, just make that cell be crossed out from corner to corner, or it could also be filled with some sort of "N/A" value (it has to be really noticeable at a first glance for it to work).
Granted, there are probably better looking solutions waiting to be found, but my point with this is that this solution for the front-end shouldn't prove to be too difficult to implement and it'd still look ok IMO.
Oh well, pray for no paywall!
I honestly don't share this fear of features being locked behind a paywall in the future. I mean, if Elo really wanted to go that route, it wouldn't make sense to have unlocked the donor perks for everyone to use in the first place, right? I just don't think there's enough to warrant being worried about something of the sort yet (and I hope that stays that way).
That being said, I agree with everything said in the replies here: a simple layout change (though hideous) is hardly grounds to decide something as drastic as quitting the site altogether. The site isn't built upon it's layout, but rather its ability to house lots of small communities and giving them a place to show off their times, and those are fortunately still here.
I'd probably stick around for a bit and see what direction they take the new layout, since it's relatively recent and (hopefully) they'll take the user feedback and tune it to our needs.
Assuming it's the same Bluely, and judging by both their language skills they almost certainly are, yes, yes he did. For the curious: http://tasvideos.org/6606S.html He's banned here too so I guess no harm is done by sharing this.
Perfect Dark is a good example for this. A long time ago someone discovered that by pausing constantly every half a second they could effectively traverse and end the level with 0:00 seconds on the in-game timer. Given how annoying this strat was, they just straight up banned it.
Even if it's a bug/glitch that can be replicated with only the tools the game itself gives you, if it leads to the run becoming completely uninteresting to run I think it's pretty reasonable to restrict its use.
Surprised he didn't run Club Penguin Ban% at this point
