SupporterA capture card actually does not alleviate the PC. If you do record or stream you still need the processing power for the actual recording.
@Worcester OBS is by far the most powerful and best software when it comes to recording videos. If you do have issues, I do recommend troubleshooting those. The Avermedia Software "gets the job done" but I wouldnt buy a capture card just to use that software.
What games do you like playing? I recommend simply a game you love playing as a first speedgame. If you are looking for games specifically, we do need a bit more input from you
Can you still return the capture card? I would go that route and buy a different one that isnt using thunderbolt.

@notitsam you are clearly a very young and new member to the speedrunning community and to speedrun.com. The website was completely different before elo took over, I still would say it was mostly better (minus the servers being under a lot of pressure). The amount of negative and unwanted features they added over time is huge, the amount of features that the community actually wanted were very small.
Most of us dont want to support a company that doesnt listen to us and seemingly doesnt care about us or the website.
They just keep on making the website a worse user experience. Feels like they are milking it as hard as possible knowing that an alternative is in the works by the community.
