"Modded" category modifier has been created. A video guide would be neat indeed, though toasterparty already made good efforts on the text guide on the github page.
What's cooking everybody ? :)
After toasterparty released the official mod for Overcooked 2 (check it out here) which allows for all kinds of shenanigans including quick passing levels on reaching specific scores, randomizing stage orders etc., it's a great way to newly discover the game for speedrunning, since we now don't just have to sit around for a long time per level until the timer runs out which adds a great level of competition.
I have added the "Game State" variable which reflects "Unmodded" and "Modded" versions of the game. All existing runs have been obviously moved to "Unmodded".
If you want to run the modded version, feel free to try it out, but be sure to read the rules since i might need to still update them a little bit more. For now, no mods are allowed except the AutoComplete feature which let you end levels faster the faster you gain the required 3-Star score. I might add other stuff as possible categories as well like the randomizer, but that will need a bit more prep time.
If you got ideas for improvement or find some erratic stuff in the rules, on the categories or submission screens, please let me know and i'll fix it asap. I never reworked that much in a single game on SRC before. :D
Also, if you want to use the load remover made by Nikoheart (check it out here), feel free to use it in runs, but for now i'll still use the RTA times until I implemented the additional time column on the boards. I'll make another announcement when I'm done with it.
Keep cooking !
Looks very interesting. I'll take a look into it and try to add it as a category this weekend
tbh, this should be a basic rule that must apply to all speedruns out there. But good thing it's specifically outlined here.
I don't think it fits the purpose of this leaderboard. This is all about speedgaming, for highscores there are competitive boards at https://overcooked.greeny.dev/
Hi dearest chefs !
Migration of the AYCE parts from the Overcooked! 2 leaderboards has been completed. Please report to me if you're missing a run from the old board. I triple checked that I didn't miss out on one ;)
From now on this is the place to submit your AYCE runs.
Keep Cooking everyone !
It's done ! Overcooked All You Can Eat is now completely separated from this game and can be found here:
https://www.speedrun.com/overcooked_all_you_can_eat
All runs and categories have been moved as well. From now on, please submit your AYCE runs over there.
Please let me know if you have trouble submitting runs there or if something appears weird. I tried to setup everything right but yaknow, sometimes errors slip through :D
Keep cooking everybody !
Hello dear speedrun chefs !
Ever since the All You Can Eat (or short: AYCE) version of Overcooked released in 2020, it was never properly added to SRC, just as a sidekick in Overcooked 2, which makes little sense since it also provides content from Overcooked 1 as well as exclusive side campaigns.
I want to properly separate these games now so we have all content thoroughly directed towards the places where they belong.
This will take a bit of time since I first have to request the new game being added, then i gotta migrate all the AYCE stuff from OC2 over including settings, runs, categories, etc.
For you there will be no changes for now. You can continue submitting runs for all existing categories of OC2 and AYCE here, they will all be moved to the correct locations once it happens. I will make another announcement when it's done.
Keep cooking greatness and have a great day !
If you're using two controllers to still control 1 player at a time (split controls), it's still 1 Player.
If you control two individual cooks and have fast chop times etc., it's 2+ players.
Hi Pdo13,
in general you're right, technically it would be better to list the DLC runs as Full game categories. However, in this game we already have the problem that we got so many potential categories with the original Overcooked 2 & All-You-Can-Eat version, which split up into Any% and AllStars%, which again split up into 1-,2-,3- and 4-Player categories.
There is just no more space to add another major category layer, so I would have to create major categories like "OC2-Main Story", "OC2-AYCE-Main Story", "OC2-Night of the Hangry Horde", etc. And in my opinion, this would look way more ugly than having the DLCs as separate Level categories in their own section, which technically might not be entirely accurate, but since there won't ever be individual level boards anyways (apart from that 6-6), why not use them for this ?
Congratulations on the SGDQ World Record ! :D
Well, surely a video is required for most speedruns to be verified, but after verification it's not necessary to keep the video. Videos can be unattached for multiple reasons. Attached accounts could be deleted / banned or whatever.
But since the run is verified, that means (or at least should mean) that a mod has watched the run and decided that it's fine to get verified.
When did you realize that something is wrong with the run ? Just asking, because it must have been a while ago when the video was still available. Would've expected you reached out for it earlier ?
Can you describe what the concrete problem is ? Did they not unlock a certain Kevin level or just missed out on a star in a stage ?
Hi Jordanjwill,
first of all, I haven't received any message from you, your co-op partner mandyjess14 instead contacted me and told me about this. Unfortunately, I was only able to respond that I can not verify the validation of the run anymore since the attached video is now privated. If somehow you still had access to it, you can send me a link and I take a look into it.
Also I will message the other mod, slickfull, and ask him about the issue since he verified that run.
The easiest way to make a significant bump in quality of life for runners (just straight from my head) would be to implement a button / menu command to instantly end the level (or just use the regular exit level command) and let it act as the timer just ran out. This way the player could decide for himself how many stars he needs to go with for any% and form a route to gather just enough stars to make it to the end.
If possible, it would then help alot if there was a little reminder display that shows you how much score you need for the next star e.g.
Having a setting the player could modify like "End Level on X star score" which makes the level end immediately would help for All Stars speedruns (or 3-Stars / 4-Stars since we could then create such a category if players are interested)
I'd learn a 100% run with all 4 stars in all Levels + DLCs with such a mod. That'd be lots of fun.
Also being able to get all 4 stars per level directly from a fresh file would be a cool challenge :)
Definitely a neat idea to add a Speed-Mode in addition to the existing Highscore-Mode.
Yo fellow cooks !
Because it was specially requested, I've added categories for the "Night of the Hangry Horde" DLC, either any% without Horde levels, or just all Horde levels without any fixed timers in the stages.
If there is demand to add more, feel free to request it here and i'll consider adding it.
