Instead of having all characters as a main tabs. We have changed all the main tabs to be just New Game, NG+ No items...etc. The characters will be just a sub-category followed by the difficulty of your choice. This reduced the number of tabs we had and the confusions that kept going around the players.
The rules has also been updated.

Recently, I got appointed as a mod of this board, so I want to ensure the decisions that I will make will be the best for this community without any conflicts.
As a result, this post is a data collection on community's and outsiders opinion on revamping DMC4: Special Edition board. Additionally, I'd like to hear your opinions based on the gripes of running this or the barrier of running this game. (Is it due to lack of resource ? Unforgiving ? More help needed ?..etc.)
I started this discussion with mekarazium on discord to come up an idea of further enhancement for this board.
The issues so far A ) Too much difficulties. Hell and Hell in particular should not ever exists in any DMC game. B ) Lack of exposure and community engagement in general.
Here are some of the consideration that I came up with:
Consolidating New Game + Itemless category. Along with the removal of super costume vs no super costume and unnecessary difficulties Tis without doubt the change the board need to consider. While, it's understandable to split catas, so the main ones would be at the top and arbitrary ones at misc, aka different NG+ itemless cata. It doesn't change the fact that outsiders/newcomers will get confused.
Therefore, I believe merging them together with the following adjustment might going to eliminate this issue:
1 ) Deleting Hell and Hell, Son of Sparda. Merging Legendary Dark Knight and Human together in one sub category known as misc (see DMC3:SE board)
The reason for HaH and SoS is plain simple. "Arbitrary". When it comes to going fast and there is literally no reason to run a difficulty that has very minor difference. There is also no need to challenge yourself with no damage run that has literally same scaling as SoS.
2 ) Eliminating Super costume vs No Super costume
We could add filter stating whether its a super costume or not on Nero/Dante/Vergil. Considering Lady and Trish has none. Whole different run like vergil for example yes, but I honestly think that it shouldn't be split apart with this size of players at the moment. It's also the fact that, you have unlimited DT making same cycles. The main difference is that you have unlimited extra tool access and things like auto full exceed, unlimited concentration meter and distortion.
Putting Nero/Dante. Vergil. Lady/Trish under one category called New game Looking at this structure. I believe this would make much more sense. Because the rest of categories has characters as a sub to switch around. This way we would only end up having only three tabs that are New Game, New Game+ Itemless and Misc.
I hope we can come together to resolve this and make the changes these boards need to look less overwhelming to newcomers.

I am in favour of this and I am ready to have discussion about it.
I have brought this up quite a bit before. Console runners has to really accept the fact that RTA is inherently unfair. Storage technologies like SSD and console versions such as PS4 Pro/Xbox One X/Moded PS2 affect this. Therefore, all consoles should be merged together. It should have a variable that shows if it's (PS2/Xbox360/PS4/XboxOne). Same applies for PC (2006/HDC).
There are plenty of other boards (console exclusive) really implies that just run faster hardware if you want the record.

Above clip demonstrates how that bug works. This is very important considering how much it changes the meta for dante. The moment it connects, every other enemies regardless of the positions (on screen or off screen) even the infamous larvas can get hit while hiding. On the top of that, the glitch still persists after a game quit. The only way to stop it is that you restart the hardware.
I am pretty sure many of you would be excited on how it can be replicated. Unfortunately, we don't know how to get it working on at least a semi consistent basis. It only happens on a accident.
I finished a run while that glitch was triggered, however I did not submit due to obvious reasons.
This has been discovered before on PS4.
For the sake of healthy practice and avoid such conflicts I am proposing this board to:
- Until we can make it replicable like 100% works on all platforms consistent, runs that contain the shotgun bug should be invalid.
- From now on runs should require a twitch VOD WR or not.
- All runs require an RTA timer to displayed (Livesplit, console stream timer, etc.). PC runs require input displays (gamepad viewer, nohboard, etc.)
DMC2 or not. I care about this game a lot and I really don't want this game to end up experiencing issues that happened to other DMC games.

This isn't surprising because you already ran the game a lot. Just because you made less attempts in PC doesn't mean its free.
It looks fine to me. Hinge only took about 5 attempts to take WR on console category. Why ? Because he is good at this game and worked hard for it before the remaster.
You have to take into account that not every single moment in onimusha esp with how fast you kill enemies or how fast you bait them into reaction is consistent. RNG exists in every speed game no matter what. A mistake from fortinbras alone costs you a lot.
IGT can still be shown RTA should be the main timing method. The splits on remaster are arbitrary. The difference isn't huge in time I already posted side to side comparison, If you want the best time then run on the best platform.

I'd like to keep this discussion going, since I have reached into conclusion that not only HD Remaster platforms should be merged together but also the ranking should be decided in real time. Once the merge is done I'd highly recommend to put normal difficulty of this version as a main category rather than PS2 version. Because it has more runners. Therefore, this will make the board look better and more competitive.

I have used this website to check side by side comparison for a reference and it was pretty clear to me that there is no difference in load, puzzles, menuing..etc between the PC version and the remaster version.
The problem with IGT is much like everyone stated before, it does not provide enough details (milliseconds and seconds). Changing it into RTA should avoid all the issues within this run.
Yes it's allowed, because it's part of the game mechanic. I don't see the reason why it wouldn't be allowed. Although, you are still going to prioritise magic first as those are actually more effective to knock down / dps Fortinbras.
First of, the only thing that brings my mind on new category is when capcom actually releases DLCs that makes Dante/Nero/V/Vergil runs all 20 Missions. Other than that perhaps low % (That would be really long tho). I cannot speak much for All Orbs + Secret Mission category since that does not interest me however, I would suggest to see if fair amount of runner would actually run this rather than making it obsolete.
Heaven or Hell showed interesting runs from previous DMCs (3 and 4), so I am down with that category being added.
What bugs me on Super Costumes is that there is nothing really interesting going on it will just end up running like Onimusha Ultimate mode or vanilla DMC4 where you just charge a head and HW might as well just HoH at this point.
I understand the frustration for faust, but I just came to accept that it is part of the game's mechanic therefore, Faustless category would be just running DMC4 itemless category aka not using HW and such.
tldr; Only Heaven or Hell difficulty gets a pass for me
Looking at the board so far it seems to be doing well. Although, I'd suggest removing Any% since nobody is going to actually run the game with the un-skippable cut-scene once people will realise about this.
It would be ideal to re-name category of "Any% NG+" into "New Game" as normal difficulty will be the main category.
I'd also suggest removing All Story Routes for now. until at least 3-4 people decides to actually run that particular category. Having the tab there sitting empty isn't really worth it,
You can clearly see submit run button on any board so click on that.
All you gotta do is just to follow the instructions and such. After that mods will verify it.
I'd also recommend watching Kanis's GDQ run.
It's a very good starting point from there. To run this game competently your first goal is to aim for sub 2h.

Nope I am afraid that Ninja Dog is load save file exclusive feature. It doesn't function similar to DMC3.
SRC was such a unique design till this change. I honestly don't know if there was really a need for light mode. The colors doesn't help it either (whether its green or not considering the framework that you are using).
I am not sure if my assumption is correct on the framework, but there was really no need for boostrap framework. The layout was fine the way it was not to mention it was also much better for eyes. Because of that, the site looks more of mobile app or any common social media site rather than an actual leaderboard.
Saying "very few of them actually looked good" is basically fueling the fire causing you to have more stingy comments.

As far as i'm researching, the current IGT timer in the game seems to be relatively accurate on each platform.
Because of that, I don't see the need to split them into different platforms the only exception here is the PS2 port which does not have feature like instant switching..etc.
There is a way that we could confirm this by:
1) Record Consoles/PC for testing IGT. 2) Get a perfect three-eye cycle 3) Save the progress and check the Play Time confirming the accuracy
Personally, I am down to adapting the gameplay regardless of its change.
The RPCS3 does experience the loading in the middle of stages as well. I do own the console version copy (but dead PS3) and in comparison of RPCS3 they are literally the same thing. The only approach for that manner is really upgrading to SSD drive (This has always been a factor for the most games to begin with no matter which platform).
As for my progress for this game's routing for now. What I could do for this game now is only build up the route through observation unfortunately unless I get an upgrade with a Laptop/PC that doesn't get bottleneck'd with PS3 emulation or by miracle PSN download in PS4 or a miracle PC port.
The best I could do right now is probably to advertise this game on my channel in order to get people interested to run this game.
A shame that it won't exceed the quality of NGB but it is what it is.
I am with the guy's above. I see a lot of unnecessary category. I'd suggest re-hauling the categories and copy NGB board only include "Normal" and "Master Ninja" Category given the sub tabs of Any % and 100%.
- Hard and Very Hard is obsolete for this board and there is absolutely no need for it
- Remove Eternal Legend idea for now and include it on the board once the players milestone reaches 20 given their interest of the game
Considering RPCS3 existence, I have been lurking around this board a lot and in hope to see some NGB runners to get in and such.
I am surprised that no one even bothered to route this game esp the fact that you can quick use items..etc.
Is there any practical reason why ?
I may consider develop this game so it can be as optimised as black if RPSC3 decide to serve well on my third world party laptop.
