What the hell? The other 2 PA games got submitted on Speedrun.com. AND NOBODY TOLD ME??
This run is awesome haha. From the time it took for you to beat it, I thought someone found a way to do the teleport glitch in this game. Turns out, it's just that short
Oh it's cool to see you back haha! Sorry to hear all that had happened...
I am pretty sure my route could be improved in Home EC. The weird savepoint entanglement thing that happens there could possibly be used twice (or could be used more efficiently)
Outside of that. Unless we find a way to either:
- Skip directly to Coco dispelling our collar
- Bypass the collar detection
- Skip the Gym cutscene whilst keeping the ability to interact with objects
- Skip directly to the encounter with Ginger
- Skip directly to Bapawment
Then we basically have ourselves a purrfect any% route!
Haha yep. With all my busted time saves, I was able to snatch a new WR! Although text speed was still dampening my abilities which still sucked ☹️
You could probably save a bit of extra time from better manipulating the weird save web thing that happens during Home EC. But I think this is the fastest route that we can make with all the current glitches we have. As all of the things we do in the run are completely mandatory (I was thinking of possibly wrong warping directly to the bapawment section. But that's still a dream waiting to happen)
I FOUND A WAY TO SKIP THE LIBRARY!!
Once you finish Home EC. You can actually just do the cafeteria skip and that also skips the library phase altogether! That means 3/4 classes can be skipped entirely!
WHAT THE FUCK???? I am genuinely surprised at this achievement lmao. And that Cafeteria skip is absolutely crazy. I literally have no idea how that even works holy shit!
Also. I actually found a way to skip the Home EC as well using a similar technique you used for the Cafeteria! But since you skip the section where Coco dispels you collar. You are unable to cross to kill Ginger. Library is pretty unimportant though, maybe a skip can be found there?
There are a lot of interesting ways the trick can save time!
I found multiple teleport strats for each individual class. But they save like a few miliseconds at best and are pretty difficult to pull off (I can still mention them if you want!). The most human friendly strategy I could find is to "hook up" the teleport glitch at the Home EC door AFTER you finish Home EC (doing it before will sorta mess up the game and will play segments from the Home EC. This just loses time compared to after). And then continue playing normally until you finish the Gym Intro cutscene. Then you right click to teleport back into the Home EC door and essentially skip the entire gym class
This might actually be the peak of PA3 speedrunning. Unless the Teleport glitch I mentioned earlier gets implemented in the route, I am not sure how else this could be optimized. Good job dude!
Since we don't have a discord server. I decided to post something on the forums about all the time saves that I have been secretly formulating for a while! (Mainly cause I haven't been able to put them to good use). I have done a lot of code-digging + testing to find all these out!
START OF THE RUN
- Playing through cutscene > Skip Intro - The rules state that "Timer starts on the first frame you enter school and gain control of Patches (either after clicking "Skip Intro" or after clicking after patches says "I'd better figure out how to get this collar off before then.").". When you skip the intro, your mouse would be positioned waaaay too far away from the door. So you would have to move your mouse across a far distance which loses time. HOWEVER! If you watch the cutscene all the way up to the end where he says his last line of dialogue, you can pre-move the mouse to the door before the timer starts. Therefore saving time from having to move your mouse pretty far (which is probably like 0.5 seconds at most)
- Save file for quicker resetting - Although not a time save. I think It's just faster to create a save file that starts on the dialogue shown above and load that when resetting instead of having to watch all the intro stuff again. (It may ruin muscle memory for the first few attempts but it certainly makes resets go by much quicker)
HOME EC
- Be nice > Be an asshole - Saves 2 extra dialogue (3 > 5)
- Clicking the Baking Gear > Give ingredients to Brownie - Skips having to talk to Brownie + Having to choose the "Give ingredients" option
- Manipulate > Apologize - Saves 18 extra dialogue + CG scene (Includes other miscellaneous extra dialogue as well) (37 > 55)
LIBRARY
- No > Yes - Saves 1 extra dialogue (5 > 6)
- Stare at Angel > Look away - Saves 1 extra dialogue (7 > 8)
- Fuck the Vice President > Why keep secrets? - Saves 8 extra dialogue (11 > 19)
- Threaten > Offer Help - Saves 1 extra dialogue (5 > 6)
- Find a Book > Break your Neck - Saves 1 extra dialogue (9 > 10)
- Talk to Olive once before talking to Felix - This probably doesn't save that much time (maybe like a few miliseconds at best). But I find that when you enter the right side of the library, your cursor is much closer to Olive than Felix. So you can save more time by talking to Olive first and then positioning your mouse to talk to Felix.
CAFETERIA
- Take fur > Compliment fur - Saves 2 extra dialogue (4 > 6)
- Keep to yourself > Share with Olive - Saves 6 extra dialogue + CG scene (4 > 10)
GYM
- Help Ginger speak = Interrupt her - Both options take up 7 dialogue
- Quiet and fair >>> Modest but bloody - Choosing Modest but bloody forces you to go on a side quest to sabotage the ball whereas Quiet and fair allows you to skip straight to Sparky instantly
- Move on > Thank Sparky - Saves 4 extra dialogue + CG scene (Former skips straight to the point whereas latter makes you go through 4 extra dialogue)
GINGER + ENDING
- Kill > Talk - Saves a bunch of dialogue + extra menu
- What's best > Getting revenge - Saves 1 extra dialogue (3 > 4)
- ... > Good - Saves 2 extra dialogue (4 > 6)
- Kill > Heal - Saves a crap ton of time from having to skip dialogue + Extra menuing + Prevents death if you killed Ginger
EXTRAS
- Interesting Teleport Glitch - I was trying to speedrun to improve my record when I accidentally glitched the game by interacting with objects while the options menu was up. When I proceed to right click. The game showed the room I was in when I first did the trick, but without any people!
In this image. I performed the glitch by opening up the options menu and selecting the door leading to home ec. When I finished all the cutscenes and right clicked. I got teleported back outside the Home EC. And trying to enter back inside will say that I am already in another class, only to be teleported back inside Home EC! (This might be the result of my pirated copy of PA3 causing weird glitches with the game. Tried this with Vincent: The Secret of Myers and it didn't produce the same result)
DAMN you are wild with this one. I wish I can compete as well but for some reason my game doesn't speed up text as fast as you guys can (it takes like 20 seconds to get past the cooking class even with optimal mouse movement + ghost clicking to interact with the button ASAP). But I won't really complain that much
I only just realized that this got retimed to 1:10 flat...
Oh well. Time for another grind fest
That text skipping is LIGHTNING SPEED! Something I could only dream off, congrats on WR!
Update: He said in his latest pumpkin panic video that someone had actually put it up there for him
Aw that sucks. I absolutely love this game and I had already done a full 100% on fresh ingredients
I just realized that this run technically breaks the rules but in all fairness I did this speedrun WAY before the rules were implemented
^ This is mainly the reason. The other reason why I didn't bother to do the other levels perfectly is because I just wanted to prove that the level 3 wall jump can be implement in a full any%
I know this page is dead and all. But will this atleast include the Fresh Ingredients DLC?
