I regained my love for running Walking Zombie 2 again. This time, trying for a more smaller run instead of an 8 hour slogfest known as Full Game Any%. Just today, I achieved this Woodstown Any% run in around 26 minutes (without load times). This beats the current WR by about 4 minutes (though the WR has not had its load times removed)

The reason this is unverifiable is because of lag frames during loading times which made precise retiming impossible. My method of retiming returns a time of 26:52. But it could be either 1 second faster, or 30 seconds slower. I know I am the only moderator in this community, and I could just submit it as is. But I definitely think this run shouldn't be submitted, so I won't be submitting it to the leaderboards. But it still took me 2 and a half hours to achieve. So I will at least create a thread showcasing my unverifiable rejected run.

Description

Yep. Another run by yours truly! Aside from skill and luck improvements, I have been developing a new route after becoming more knowledgeable about the game from the amount of testing I have done. Here are some highlights

  • I have opted to use the rifle instead of the machine gun for a more aggressive and riskier early game. As it can one-shot zombies when hit in the head
  • I learned that you can press ENTER once the loading screen has finished instead of moving your mouse to the Continue button. It saves a few miliseconds everytime it's done, but that adds up considering the amount of loading screens the game has. Here, it saved around ~2 minutes throughout the entire run
  • I got lucky getting a StHg 24 Grenade before Clearing the Destroyed Factory. This skips a short tutorial!
  • After Old House Treasure is basically the second half of the run. I found out that an upgraded Sten 2000 can actually deal with zombies really effectively! And because of how cheap the weapon is, I can easily buy + upgrade, and even buy some extra stuff with my leftover cash! Of course, I had to horde a lot of weapons to get enough money
  • I also wanna mention that I used Zombero to get Gold Coins. Because I found that the Sten 2000 isn't always guaranteed. I got it first try, but I had runs where the Sten 2000 wasn't in the shop. So I had to reroll to find it again. I even had runs where I couldn't get it even with Zombero. So I guess this introduces RNG into the run :(
  • Since a lot of missions involves running around to a specific point. I learned to abuse Energy Drinks more frequently. I got lucky in this run by getting random Energy Drink drops from zombies, and also using my leftover money to buy more of them. This is just enough to cover the second half of the run
  • I found that I have been getting a lot more grenades than I realized. So I ended up being more aggressive with them throughout the run. Both early and late stages of the run!

Some other notes

  • You can also get lucky by getting Energy Drinks before Old House Treasure. Since a lot of the early missions require walking, this would save a lot of time. I got a run that was like this, but died in the latter half off the run
  • I had a run that was very similar to this one. It was about to be a 29:00 run with load times. But I ran out of grenades and lost to the final zombie horde at the end, thinking I could tank the damage. My heart sank, but I continued on regardless. And I managed to get an even better run with a grenade this time!

The fact that there are many different version categories in Tutorial speedruns when changes between them are very minimal is kind of strange. I think 8.0, 8.1, and 8.2 should be combined since they don't really have much of a difference. And the specific version as an annotation like in the image shown below

Found a somewhat consistent setup for getting all the Ball Joints! This can be used for Omega Kerfur%!

Steps

  1. Do pos.target -529.7:-462.4 to find the first chest. Make sure you are right below so that the next steps will be as precise as possible
  2. Look directly at the corner of the base of the sattelite and move 7 steps. Dig somewhere forward on the steep slope
  3. Look directly at the opening on the leaves of the tree then move 6 steps. Dig down
  4. (Hardest and least consistent) At the opening between two trees, Look straight at the left one and move 12 steps. Dig down

Unsure if anyone has found this already. But I find that in the garage, you can repeatedly climb on these boxes to quickly lose a lot of stamina. This is useful so that you can implement longer sleeps to skip more time during the downtime between drone deliveries!

I used this whilst I was trying to speedrun getting a single kerfur (Kerfur% possibly >->). But it is definitely possible to implement this in the more longer Omega Kerfur%

This is the first time I have ever made a leaderboard for a game. If you guys have any problems regarding it, please post about it here

Since we don't have a discord server. I decided to post something on the forums about all the time saves that I have been secretly formulating for a while! (Mainly cause I haven't been able to put them to good use). I have done a lot of code-digging + testing to find all these out!

START OF THE RUN

  • Playing through cutscene > Skip Intro - The rules state that "Timer starts on the first frame you enter school and gain control of Patches (either after clicking "Skip Intro" or after clicking after patches says "I'd better figure out how to get this collar off before then.").". When you skip the intro, your mouse would be positioned waaaay too far away from the door. So you would have to move your mouse across a far distance which loses time. HOWEVER! If you watch the cutscene all the way up to the end where he says his last line of dialogue, you can pre-move the mouse to the door before the timer starts. Therefore saving time from having to move your mouse pretty far (which is probably like 0.5 seconds at most)
  • Save file for quicker resetting - Although not a time save. I think It's just faster to create a save file that starts on the dialogue shown above and load that when resetting instead of having to watch all the intro stuff again. (It may ruin muscle memory for the first few attempts but it certainly makes resets go by much quicker)

HOME EC

  • Be nice > Be an asshole - Saves 2 extra dialogue (3 > 5)
  • Clicking the Baking Gear > Give ingredients to Brownie - Skips having to talk to Brownie + Having to choose the "Give ingredients" option
  • Manipulate > Apologize - Saves 18 extra dialogue + CG scene (Includes other miscellaneous extra dialogue as well) (37 > 55)

LIBRARY

  • No > Yes - Saves 1 extra dialogue (5 > 6)
  • Stare at Angel > Look away - Saves 1 extra dialogue (7 > 8)
  • Fuck the Vice President > Why keep secrets? - Saves 8 extra dialogue (11 > 19)
  • Threaten > Offer Help - Saves 1 extra dialogue (5 > 6)
  • Find a Book > Break your Neck - Saves 1 extra dialogue (9 > 10)
  • Talk to Olive once before talking to Felix - This probably doesn't save that much time (maybe like a few miliseconds at best). But I find that when you enter the right side of the library, your cursor is much closer to Olive than Felix. So you can save more time by talking to Olive first and then positioning your mouse to talk to Felix.

CAFETERIA

  • Take fur > Compliment fur - Saves 2 extra dialogue (4 > 6)
  • Keep to yourself > Share with Olive - Saves 6 extra dialogue + CG scene (4 > 10)

GYM

  • Help Ginger speak = Interrupt her - Both options take up 7 dialogue
  • Quiet and fair >>> Modest but bloody - Choosing Modest but bloody forces you to go on a side quest to sabotage the ball whereas Quiet and fair allows you to skip straight to Sparky instantly
  • Move on > Thank Sparky - Saves 4 extra dialogue + CG scene (Former skips straight to the point whereas latter makes you go through 4 extra dialogue)

GINGER + ENDING

  • Kill > Talk - Saves a bunch of dialogue + extra menu
  • What's best > Getting revenge - Saves 1 extra dialogue (3 > 4)
  • ... > Good - Saves 2 extra dialogue (4 > 6)
  • Kill > Heal - Saves a crap ton of time from having to skip dialogue + Extra menuing + Prevents death if you killed Ginger

EXTRAS

  • Interesting Teleport Glitch - I was trying to speedrun to improve my record when I accidentally glitched the game by interacting with objects while the options menu was up. When I proceed to right click. The game showed the room I was in when I first did the trick, but without any people! In this image. I performed the glitch by opening up the options menu and selecting the door leading to home ec. When I finished all the cutscenes and right clicked. I got teleported back outside the Home EC. And trying to enter back inside will say that I am already in another class, only to be teleported back inside Home EC! (This might be the result of my pirated copy of PA3 causing weird glitches with the game. Tried this with Vincent: The Secret of Myers and it didn't produce the same result)

I know this page is dead and all. But will this atleast include the Fresh Ingredients DLC?

How does this category work, do I actually have to get every single block? Like Leaves, Pistons, Glowstone, etc. Or do I have to collect every block from the "Building Blocks" Category
