I just want to say @Ironside_Chris, thank you for your contribution to the Shrek the Third speedrun community. L
Nice job so far!
My Little Pony Crystal Palace: The Runaway Rainbow https://www.speedrun.com/mlpcptrr.
A GBA game with simple gameplay with movement optimisation. Currently, there are four runners (five on the leaderboard, one of them is my old account). The game isn't long, barely surpassing 25 minutes in the WR run.
Hope this game get more attention.
My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow. To summarize with one sentence: "You go here, then you do that, and then you go there, and then you do that, and then do this, do that, do this, do that, and repeat." It's obviously wasn't made for speedrun in mind, but that doesn't stop me to lower it down.
Why not?! The more, the better.
How about Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the Xbox? It is in dire need of runners as right now, @Patrick_Barrett is the only runner of the game. The run is definitely long, however, the route is easy to remember because of its linearity. I want to try it, but my current laptop can't run the game (on emulator) properly.
I want to expand my diverse roster so I need some recommendations from you. Here are my proposals:
- NO RPGs. I can't stand the long run.
- Any genres are welcomed. However, I prefer platforming (2D, 2.5D, or 3D), racing, and adventure game.
- Preferable Any% time: 20 minutes ~ 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Have a lot of potentials when it comes to skips and glitches that are yet to discover.
- Have little to no RNG in its run.
- The game has a moderate communal activity, but also quite obscure, according to the OSC's definition.
So, here is my roster:
- My Little Pony Crystal Princess: Runaway Rainbow (GBA).
- Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (DS)
- Shrek the Third (PC, PSP)
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox).
- Winx Club (GBA) [Not yet joined].
Well, my main speed game currently is Shrek the Third on PC. However, I have two other games I also currently run:
- My Little Pony Crystal Princess: Runaway Rainbow (GBA)
- Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (DS)
Other games I want to run but had to put off because of reasons:
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox) [My current, leased laptop can't run the emulator needed properly).
- Winx Club (GBA) [Have other issues to worry about).
And I want more.
Okay, so I'm new to this website, just sign in. But there's one thing that buggering me, and I don't know if this forum is appropriate or not.
So, here's the question. When I upload the split(s) of the game to the Resource section and someone downloads that split, does it make up a new one on Livesplit or other split or does it still retain my time segment?
I'm the only active runner of this MLP GBA game for about a year now. There are currently 3 runners who have run this game in the leaderboard (The leaderboard shows 4 runners because it still had a record from my old account [I forgot the password of that account, so I had to make a new one] and I forgot to tell Flutter, the supermod for the game to remove it). I made a guide for the game, explaining tips and tricks when running the game, and I plan to write more guide for all five chapters. The current WR for the game is 24:19 by me.
Boom! Finish! I did screw up the last part of the route but it's good enough.
Well, here's the planning route for the stage:
So, I'll create the thread for all the level in the DS just to keep my sanity and to avoid clutter the forum post with this kind of post. Okay, so the level in the DS version are as followed in order:
- Skatepark /
- Philly /
- Harbor
- Museums
- FDR
- Lansdowne
- Monuments
So, I have covered the Skatepark, so I put on a tick '/' there to indicate. Okay, back to the point, next up, we have Philly. The goals are:
- High Score - 60,000
- Pro Score - 90,000
- Sick Score - 300,000
- Pro Combo Score - 25,000
- Sick Combo Score - 50,000
- Collect SKATE
- Collect COMBO
- 360 Indy (A +Right) the Car Kicker
- Grind the signs -Find the Secret Tape
So, I made a map of Philly containing all of the goals in Classic Code, but apparently I can't drag the picture here, so I'll describe it. Most of the goals, mainly the COMBO letter, grind sign and the Secret Tape are located at the west side of the map. The Car Kicker is located at the south side of the map, almost centred.
A grind sign can be found at the beginning of the level as the player spawn in. So, how do we route it?
Okay, now I made a route for this level. It's not perfect, but it is a starting point https://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/iyyaw2/skatepark_classic_mode_route_idea_tony_hawks/
Okay, so after I familiarise myself with the control of the DS version of the game, I think it's time for the next part, the routing. For this, I mainly focused on the first level, which is Skatepark. The rest of the level I may cover about later.
So, the goal for this map are as follows:
- High Score - 25,000
- Pro Score - 50,000
- Sick Combo - 150,000
- Pro Combo Score - 5,000
- Sick Combo Score - 15,000
- Collect S-K-A-T-E
- Collect C-O-M-B-O
- Nosegrind (Up + X) the Dozer Blade
- Spine Transfer (R) The Pools
- Find the Secret Tape.
The C-O-M-B-O letter is located along the right side of the train track, which is near the spawn point. The S-K-A-T-E letter is located outside of the warehouse, near a halfpipe with ramps on both sides align together. The Dozer Blades can be found right next to the crane. The Pools is literally right next to the player when spawning on the far side of the quadra-pipe. The Secret Tape can be found in the area where the tutorial for spine transfer a bit higher.
Here are the moves with its respective button presses and its points without the combo: (Y + Up) - Impossible - 100 points (Y + Down) - 360 Shove It - 100 points (Y + Right) - Heelflip - 100 points (Y + Left) - Kickflip - 100 points (A + Up) - Nosegrab - 300 points (A + Down) - Tailgrab - 300 points (A + Right) - Indy - 300 points (A + Left) - Melon - 300 points (Y + Up + Right) - Inward Heelflip - 350 points (Y + Up + Left) - Hardflip - 360 points (Y + Down + Right) - Varial Heelflip - 300 points (Y + Down + Left) - Varial Kickflip - 300 points (A + Up + Right) - Madonna - 300 points (A + Up + Left) - Japan - 420 points (A + Down + Right) - Airwalk - 450 points (A + Down + Left) - Benihana - 360 points (Up + Up + A) - 360 Sal Flip - 700 points (Down + Down + A) - Ollie North - 600 points (Up + Up + Y) - Kickflip to Indy - 900 points (Down + Down + Y) - Hellflip Varial Lein - 900 points
So, where do I begin?
I am quite new when it comes to glitch hunting, only being interested in it for a month now. And I have a question for all of the glitch hunter. Also I did post this similar question at Reddit but the only advice I got is a bit hard for my head to wrap around, so...
Okay, context.
I ran this game for a year now in 2 different accounts, since I forgot the password for the first one :(. I have a theory about a possible NPC movement manipulation so I download mGBA because it has a memory viewer. However, I don't know how to do because I mainly find glitches and skips through gameplay rather than looking through the code. So, does anyone here has any advice? Please make it simple for me to understand.
So, I recently download the DS port of Proving Ground and I see that it is vastly different to the console version. It is more akin to American Skateland so shouldn't the DS port of Proving Ground be its own separate category or a new game?
