Sorry I thought the message was sent to everyone I tagged in the post before this. You can state your thoughts here, of course its an open discussion still.

discussione: Galactic Warriors
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

One of the oldest fighting games, I think its the first where you can choose a different character Galactic Warriors is an experience to play.

I have a feeling there are better times recorded, and possibly older (or younger) runners who know the patterns, how to clear this game faster.

My searching did not turn up much, so if anyone reading this knows or has content, please submit or link it here.

Thank you!

discussione: Vicious Circle
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

If for some odd reason you stumble upon this page, this is the Leaderboard for Vicious Circle.

This game was an unreleased arcaded game that had very few arcade machines available. Due to the obscurity there isn't a playbase for this game outside of gamers who are curious.

The only really good article in any language with information can be found at https://gemubaka.com/2020/10/17/a-breakdown-of-the-canceled-vicious-circle-arcade/

If anyone know tech, information, or wants to try a run I highly encourage it, since so little is known so far and a lot too be discovered.

I was going through and checking this now. I will make sure the correct permissions are on so it can be changed.

Quick update and shoutouts

Speedrunner @NickDoane who has now swept the board using Rungo. The record was previously held this year by Spreedrunner @Tyler2022 who cleanly perfected the infinite loop I had found with Ellis.

A offer was mentioned by @AllAgesGaming a few months back to retime everything so the PAL version can be capable of competing , I would be happy to let him do so, However I will message other runners to check if this is acceptable, or you can message here your opinions or consent.

Lets see some new runners and comebacks, if anyone wants to challenge Battle Arena Toshinden 2 or 3, those leaderboards are available as well.

discussione: Abala Burn
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

Welcome to the Abala Burn leaderboards!

This is a very underplayed fighting game, although it features a standard fighting game mode, it has a story mode that is strikingly similar to Mega Man Legends. This mode involves finding a key and progressing through certain 3D platforming and jumps to reach the end of the stage which usually has a traditional fight.

The main reason I am making this thread is in hopes that anyone who wants to route, or has information please share. I have small notes, but as it currently stands it may be a long while before a story mode run can be preformed as a 'speedrun' at my current pace. I welcome anyone interested to take the challenge and will humbly cheer you on and share any information I currently know.

Thanks and I hope to see more runs in the coming years!

It's been awhile! After coming back from a break I noticed that two speedruns I preformed have still yet to be approved for three months. I would like to request moderator for the following two games:

Yu Yu Hakusho Dai-Ni-Dan: Ankoku Bujutsu Kai Hen https://www.speedrun.com/yu_yu_hakusho_dai-ni-dan_ankoku_bujutsu_kai_hen/full_game

Okami Ningen the current mod did not respond on twitter or the site.

and

SD Hiryuu no Ken EX https://www.speedrun.com/sd_hiryu_no_ken_ex

I learned some new speedruns during my break so I am sure I will be bothering the mods again in the next few months. As always thank you for taking the time to manage the site and process these requests.

discussione: Bushido Blade
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

Hi Anderson san,

Thank you for submitting a run, Its nice to see more interest in Bushido Blade.

The previous runs were done several years earlier, but to my knowledge were not cheated or using unfair means. Since I had joined the board it is my policy to only accept runs with emulation and the version used.

One of the issues with PS1 and PS2 emulation, even on some of the games I have introduced to the site, is that loading can be very different. This game was also released on PSN and Physical PS1 disk, and there is apparently a second print of this disk (not sure what was changed if anything). Not to mention playing the game on PS1, PS2, PS2 Slim, PS3, PS3 slim, and various models. I've noticed those variables can factor into the timing, however I am sorry to say I don't think I could test every variable. As well as the previous runners luck, sometimes the game just seems to load faster in spots, I have gotten stuck on loads before. Emulation can make this issue worse by removing load times, but I don't have an easy resolution, and I don't think its fair to remove the runs, of previous established speedrunners.

The only option I can think to offer, is that if it was desired, you could time the runs, without loads, but you would have to do this for everyone run on the board not just your own. Personally, I have don't think its effective but I have put this out there as a solution in other cases. This is the same response I have given others on PS1 games, because this issue is not exclusive to Bushido Blade.

We can discuss more about it, through message, see my sns options under my name. I think that your run was more than amazing and something to be extremely proud of. I think in other categories you could easily take 1st or have top 3 as well with your approach if thats your goal, or just becoming the best active runner of this game.

Thank you for taking the time to read my response and submit your runs. Hope to see you slash your way through more samurai!

Having played this game a lot as well in my youth, I can confirm there are very easy ways to tell difficulty in this game, some action belt games its more difficult to tell. However, As I personally remember Simpsons Arcade actually throws more enemies at you in specific areas.

To be fair to both sides, maybe it could be stated the exact numbers on difficulty to help verify the process, think of it as creating a guide, and a way to verify in case the difficulty wasn't shown. This was LRock san could help give extra information for this game and improve the verification process.

Sorry, I don't have any runs yet, just a huge fan of this game and would like to see it increase in users. I hope my idea is chosen, I am pretty sure LRock can provide notes between difficulties. Thank you for reading.

@Oreo321 & @ShikenNuggets

Thank you for the response. That's good to know. The game in question was Battle Crusher, a Banpresto game, which is a crossover of Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Gundam Characters.

There is also another PS1 Simple Series 1500 Gundam Wing Vs game, that was also a main line Gundam game and is essentially Gundam Battle Assault 2 ver 0.5.

Seems unimportant but I just wanted to classify things correctly in case anyone was ever for some reason searching for these games, or happened to discover them.

I had a question, can a leaderboard on speedrun.com linked to multiple series or linked to only just one?

For example there is a game that was played that features characters and licenses from 3 different series.

discussione: Dynasty Warriors 3
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

I could be wrong but when you fail a stage it shows the time. That time should be counted into your total, as well as the new attempt.

I will define the rules and categories this weekend and week. Its been quite a grind to get all the characters, and make lists of all the stages, and where exactly to get points/ items. There is an extreme amount of misinformation about this game in all languages, so I got side tracked, sorry.

Glad to know someone else is attempting to run this game! Feel free to message on discord as well!

Sangoku Musou was released as a fighting game first for the PS1, its not considered the best fighter, however it has a couple of interesting things to find and discover while playing because it does have some deeper mechanics. I also think that copies of this game have been getting harder to find in good condition.

Updated several things, that are usually standard in fighting game speedruns, and I think help keep the forum neater.

-The previous ruleset was basically Any%, so added the ruleset. -Added the difficulty categories, for a more arcade, which represents how the game would be played on a normal boot up or challenge. -Updated the rules. -Added time attack mode. -Added character variable (English names only.) -Made sure all the previous runs were correctly added, fixed broken links. -Set lagdotcom as a moderator for this game as well.

If there is a something that needed to be added or a question please message me on the Speedrun.com site or on any of DBcade social media places located under my profile.

discussione: Tough Dark Fight
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade4 years ago

Welcome to the fighting game based off the manga Tough Dark Fight.

I asked to be mod because the previous rules, were only in Japanese, and not well defined. I did not changed the rules but translated them. My hope is that this game gets more runners, because I actually found it fun to play, and games like this tend to immediately get ignored.

Originally my plan was to just clean up the board and write out the rules and categories. Even though at the time of writing this their are only 4 runners, the loading differences and places you can skip seem to differ when comparing console to emulation.

After research it's most likely an issue of the rom/iso and not of the emulation, however currently with ps2 (technically dreamcast, ps1, and saturn too) and onward the emulation doesn't seem to be perfect. If there are any changes to emulation or anyone wants to have the leaderboards merged and manually timed, always happy to set the leaderboards together.

If you want to see all the research the original runner unkostar san did, please watch this video here,

If there is any questions or any concerns please message me on the speedrun.com site or at any of my listed social media sites.

Thank you for reading and lets get buff together and find some really broken stuff in this game!

I would be curious to hear this too! Mainly because I am curious how emulating the guncon controls would work. I am assuming the aiming would be more accurate with a mouse, but is that even possible?

Thank you for the quick response.

I guess I will request to be added to the https://www.speedrun.com/dynasty_warriors/ Because the pending run has been my own.

My plan is to add @lagdotcom as a mod, and clean up the rules. The old mod has been inactive for almost a year.

@Daravae or any of the mods

Back on page 119 I requested to be a mod for a page, I was added, followed up with all the runners by today, but went to change the rules and page per the response and was already removed as a mod.

Here is the original message:

Hello,

Requesting moderation of the board Tough Dark Fight.

https://www.speedrun.com/tough_dark_fight

I saw a new run was added today, very excited 😍expecting to see something new since a record came but the run uses emulation that is buggy and almost no load. No one actually verified the attempt. 😮

I didnt realize but the board is set to accept any runs without verification🤪, I also want to classify the categories and board better, since there seems to be small but renewed interest in the game. I am happy to make an emulation category upon discussion of the speedrun with emulation.

The previous mod unkostar has a youtube (he made several tutorials and guides about the game) but outside of that is difficult to contact. Before doing my speedrun several months ago I had tried contacting.

Now that the issue was realized I hope to resolve before my runs are added without someone reviewing them. Thank you.🙇‍♂️

I was approved on page 119 of this Thread, It has been confirmed to be a bad rom now by the runner and discussed with the other runner about what challenges he was talking about before renaming the challenges. Please add me, again, so I can make the changes, and fix the leaderboards.

Sorry for the length, I don't understand how to quote on this forum.

A separate request is to back up the request of @lagdotcom to be added to mod of the Dynasty Warriors

Hello, I moderate the Sakugake Otokojuku Game.

https://www.speedrun.com/sakigake_otokojuku/

This game was also released under the Simple 2000 label title, so I was hoping to add it to that series, which I am also a mod on.

https://www.speedrun.com/simple_2000

I tried using the add game method or editing the current game but I cant add the tag. If there is a way to do so I would like to learn how or have it done through requesting here.

Thank you for reading. I was not aware of the series page or a mod at the time of submission. Hopefully it is an easy fix for the mods.
